Best Pre Holi Hair Care Tips

Taking care of your mane before celebrating Holi is as important as taking care of it afterwards. So if you want your hair to remain healthy and gorgeous, even after celebrating Holi like crazy, then you gotta keep these pre-Holi hair care tips in mind.

Apply a hair mask few day before celebrating Holi

The game of strengthening your hair’s barrier begins with a hair mask. Instead of just oiling your mane a few hours before you play Holi, apply a hair mask a few days earlier. The hair mask will not only make your hair shiny and bouncy but also make sure that minimum hair damage is done. You can either buy one at the supermarket or make one at home.

You’ll Need:

Step 1: In a bowl, add 1 tbsp dahi and honey, 3-4 drops of argan oil, fresh aloe vera gel (1 tbsp) and egg whites.

Step 2: Mix everything properly till the mixture if free of lumps and a little runny.

Step 3: Apply it directly on the scalp, all the way down to your hair strands.

Step 4: Leave it for about an hour and wash your hair with lukewarm water.

Apply this DIY hair mask a week before playing Holi at least two times!

Oil your hair

You have to oil your hair a night before playing Holi and there’s no exception to this rule! Since water and oil cannot be mixed, the watery colours do not ‘sit’ on your hair and scalp that much and also helps to protect it from penetrating deeper into the scalp. It also makes the hair follicles stronger, making sure you do not suffer from hair fall. The best way to ensure that the hair oil benefits you in more ways than one is via doing a hot oil massage.

In a bowl, add multiple drops of argan, tea tree, coconut and olive oil. Heat it for about 15 seconds in a microwave and apply it to your mane and leave it on.

Cover Your Hair

Another way to ensure that your hair doesn’t get too damaged while playing Holi is by covering your mane. This will ensure that barely any colour reside is on your scalp. Also, if you have colour treated hair, then it is advisable to protect your mane as much as possible. Why? Because your hair has already gone through so many chemicals, and getting mixed with Holi colours can damage it further.

Washing your hair with warm water

A common hair washing tip that all hair colourists give is to wash your hair with cold water as it closes hair follicles, making the hair colour last for a longer time. But that doesn’t mean that you should not use hot water on the scalp. The best way is to wash it with lukewarm water and if possible, use an anti-dandruff shampoo as it’ll help the colour come off faster.
