One of the best music festivals in India is The Magnetic Fields. It happens in mid-December in a small town in Rajasthan called Alsisar. It’s chilly outside, but it is the vibe of the place and music that fills your heart with warmth. Even though this place requires you to travel a bit, I assure you, the experience is going to be worth your time, energy and money!

Ziro Festival of Music

Love the Indie music scene? Then you’ll definitely like the 4-day outdoor music festival at Ziro valley in Arunachal Pradesh. To get here, you’ll have to take a flight to Guwahati and head to Naharlagun. From there, get into a cab and you should reach Ziro in 3 hours. At the festival, you’ll find two stages, Danyi which means sun and Piilo which means moon. The festival also has a no plastic policy and uses eco-friendly resources. You are also responsible for your own waste.

One of India’s wildest music festivals is Ragasthan. It’s a 3-day festival that allows you to camp in a desert of Jaisalmer. You can either bring your own tent and camp out there or stay at a Swiss Tent that comes with your own washroom and a comfy bed. Over here, you can listen to your favourite genre of music. Pop, rock, electronic, dub-step and fusion – whatever floats your boat. If you need a break from the music scene, they also have a film festival happening here.

Storm Festival

Music and nature go hand in hand and that’s what this festival is all about. You can go for yoga sessions, attend music workshops, go for late-night walks and do camp-jams while you chew on your squishy roasted marshmallows. Music is religion here and is believed to bring people closer. What I think you’ll love about this place is that it takes you away from the hustle and bustle in the city, makes you relax and enjoy and it has a no drugs policy.

Sunburn is one of India’s oldest music festivals. From food to shopping to raving, you can do it ALL here. Sunburn first came to India’s party capital – Goa and now takes place at a number of cities. In Goa, it’s usually held in December at Vagator Beach, Anjuna Beach and Arambol Beach. This is one of those festivals where you get to watch your favourite international music artists play live. Sunburn festival tickets sell like hotcakes, so I would suggest that you buy them well in advance. Keep checking their website for more deets about the venue and artist line-up.

Sula Festival

The Sula Fest is the place to be if you fancy wine, music and good food. It usually takes place in February and as far as the stay is concerned, you can either camp at the vineyards or book yourself a hotel nearby. Please remember that camping at the vineyard is not included in your music concert ticket, you will have to book that separately.
