Yes, we all know the drill, get 8 hours of sleep, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, take a digital break, sleep well, etc. But how many of us are actually following this?
Your skin needs a boost from the inside in order to glow from the outside! After all, the process of getting glowing skin starts from what you put inside your tummy. Fruits and vegetables are jam-packed with powerful antioxidants that help keep skin woes at bay. And if you do not like the taste of some of these, you can always turn em into a mask and put in on your pretty face. But we would highly recommend you add all of these nutritious foods to your ‘beauty’ diet, STAT!
The one thing I love the most about eating fruits is that while you eat them, you can also mash up a small piece in a bowl and apply them on your face!
An apple a day keeps the doctor skin issues away!
There’s a reason why apples are always recommended to eat no matter what your concern is. Apples contain Vitamin C, fibre, antioxidants, and potassium which makes our skin healthy and glowing, inside out. The high content of Vitamin C helps build collagen which helps control skin ageing and high levels of copper which helps produce melanin in our skin.
To make a DIY Apple Face Mask, simply a few slices of the apple you’re eating in a small bowl and add 1/2 tbsp of curd and lemon juice in it. Apply this and leave it on your face for 20 minutes and let the game of glow begin! ✨
Turmeric has so many benefits that it might take me all night to write about them. But to sum it up, a pinch of turmeric once a day with your glass of milk (or in your food) can help you recover fast from a common cold or if you’re running a high fever. It is also known to have speed up the healing process in case of a bruise or a burn. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidants in turmeric make it an excellent choice for an overall wellness & immunity boosting drink and a DIY face mask for glowing skin.
In a bowl, add 1 tbsp. of turmeric powder, 1 tbsp. honey and 2 tbsp. of milk and mix well. Apply the mask on your face and neck and wash after 25 minutes. You can also add one tbsp. of lemon juice and besan if your skin is extremely oily.
A kiwi is that fruit that I would describe as “chota packet, bada dhamaka.”
These tangy-sweet fruits are full of Vitamins C, B and E. They also contain folate and potassium in them and are a good source of fibre. They taste delicious alone and even make wonderful zingy additions to smoothies and smoothie bowls. If you have a little kiwi leftover, make a DIY Kiwi Mask at home. Peel of the skin & crush them into a pulp. Next, add 1/2 tbsp. of olive oil and apply this to your face for 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and say hello to that bright, glowing skin!
Is it just me or has consuming sunflower seeds has become a trend? This superfood isn’t just nutritious it’s also yummy! They help reduce blood pressure, cholesterol and even sugar levels. The high content of Vitamin E, proteins, magnesium is one of the reasons all vegans are going gaga over them. You can have them as a mid-day snack or even add some to your morning breakfast bowl, either way, your body will thank you.
If you want to make a mask using this superfood, soak 3 tbsp. of sunflower seeds in a bowl of milk overnight. Add a few strands of saffron to it. Grind the mixture in the morning and when it becomes a paste, apply it all over your face and neck. Rinse off with cold water and see how you shine bright like a diamond!
Strawberries make everything better! Candy, ice cream, cakes, chocolates, smoothies! This bright, juicylicious fruit is an excellent source of manganese, Vitamin C, B9 and potassium. Their brightening properties is why people all over the world prefer applying raw strawberries on their face. In fact, strawberries can even whiten your teeth!
In a bowl, mash 2-3 strawberries. Add 1 tbsp of lemon juice and fresh aloe vera gel and mix well. Apply this mask twice a week for 30 mins and get your glow on!

Keeping aside the weird taste of pumpkins, they are really good for our skin as pumpkins are rich in Vitamin A and C. They also have an ability to control our calorie intake (hence the ever-growing popularity of pumpkin salads and seeds) and are high on antioxidants!
To get glowing, cut three big slices of pumpkin in a bowl. Mash and add a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon in it. Next, add 1 tbsp honey and virgin olive oil and mix it well. Apply the mask all over your face and neck and wash off after 30 mins!
Kale – the king of greens and the kween of beauty!
Kale is overloaded with Vitamins A, C and K which helps repair skin damage and makes your skin brighter. To make a Kale mask at home, chop off some pieces of Kale. Add water and 1 tbsp. of honey in it. Keep it aside for an hour. You’ll notice that a greenish liquid is beginning to form, strain the mixture properly. Using a cotton pad, apply the liquid mask on your face, and keep it for an hour.
