6 Face Workouts For A More Toned Face *And* Glowing Skin!

Doing facial exercises or facial yoga is a natural way to make your face look younger and leaner by firming muscles and reducing wrinkles. Facial exercises lift, firm, tone and reduce wrinkles by increasing the blood circulation, allowing more oxygen and more nourishment to reach the skin. By simply practicing facial yoga for about twenty minutes a day, six days a week, you will start noticing your skin responding positively to the exercises within two weeks and by the end of two to three months, your skin will start feeling healthier, more energized and with reduced fine lines. Here are six easy facial exercises to get you started.

1. The Brow Lifts

This super easy exercise helps lift droopy eyebrows and eliminate eye puffiness. Simply relax the brow area and place the middle fingers of each hand under each eyebrow, as if making a V. Gently push your eyebrows upwards and slightly outwards, leaving your eyes open. Hold the position for six seconds. Repeat the same movement in a downward direction and hold for six seconds again. Repeat six times.


2. Smooth The Brow


This facial exercise helps relieve tension and reduce lines between the eyebrows. Place the fingers of both hands on the forehead facing inwards and gently sweep the fingers outwards pulling them away from each other, applying light pressure to tighten the skin. Relax and repeat six times.

It works on lifting and tightening the cheek muscles and reducing cheek lines. Hide the teeth with the lips to make an ‘O’ shape with the mouth. Then smile widely while keeping the teeth hidden and go back to making an ‘O’ shape. Repeat this six times and hold the smile while placing one index finger on the chin. Then start to move the jaw up and down as the head tilts gently back using your index finger as resistance. Relax and repeat.


4. The Giraffe


This exercise aims at reducing the lines and sagging skin on your neck and lower jaw area. Simply pull your face upwards so that your eyes face the ceiling. Place your fingertips at the top your neck and gently stroke downwards with head tilted back. Then pull your lower lip out as far as possible and place your fingertips at your collarbone to add some resistance. Hold for a few seconds and repeat six times.


5. Puff Up Your Cheeks

Puffing up your cheeks works on lifting the cheek muscles and making them firm. Start by taking a deep breath. Puff out both your cheeks and shift the air from one cheek to another. Repeat it five to six times and finally blow out the air making a small ‘O’ from your mouth. Repeat it six times.


6. Shifty Eyes


It's an excellent eye exercise that helps boost circulation around eyes improving eyesight. It also helps lift and firm the muscles around eyes. Start by keeping your head, neck, and spine in alignment. Look straight ahead and start rotating your eyeballs from centre to left, and back to centre. Similarly rotate your eyes to the right, upwards and downwards direction. Once you have completed the circuit, close your eyes and relax for a few seconds. Remember to not move your head and shoulders. Repeat six times.


In addition to these, there are a few exercises that we do in our day to day lives that actually help our facial muscles a great deal in looking tight and firm. So the next time you are taking a selfie and pouting or making a fish face, remember; you are actually increasing the blood circulation to your lips and cheek muscles.
