Eating and drinking healthy in the lead up to your wedding is a special talent I think. There’s loads of mithai in the house and with all this coronavirus stress, we don’t blame you if you have a drink or five to calm down the nerves. God knows we’ve all been there.

While it can be difficult to go on fancy diets and only eat salads during this time, we’ve got some great detox drink recipes for you to try. These are really easy to make and won’t require much prep time. The ones with water can also be made and kept in a bottle which you can sip through the day. From increasing your metabolism to reducing your stomach bloating, we’ve got one for every need.

Orange + Carrot + Ginger

Oranges are a powerhouse of Vitamin C and carrots are filled with beta-carotene and fibres aiding in weight loss and digestion. Ginger is one of those age-old home remedies for digestion, bloating, stomach cramps and is packed with anti-inflammatory properties. Now, all three of these together can be the detox elixir of your dreams. 

Cucumber + Mint + Lemon Juice

The summer is here so a refreshingly cool detox drink is the answer to all your worries. We’ve already told you the numerous benefits of lemons as a detoxifier. It’s also great for keeping your body hydrated and helps in weight loss. Cucumber is a storehouse of nutrients like Vitamin A, B1, B6, C, and D. Mint acts as a cooling agent in the drink.

How to make:

Step One: Peel, chop and blend cucumber, mint leaves and 1 cup of water.
Step Two: Strain and discard pulp.
Step Three:  Add lemon juice, black salt and dilute with water if needed.
Step Four: Pour the beverages in glasses, put some ice cubes and garnish with lemon rings and mint leaves.

Strawberry + Lemon

This one is one of the most delicious drinks on the list and it also helps remove toxins from the body and aids a healthier complexion. It is especially great for hydration and ensures that your skin stays beaming and healthy.

How to make:

Step One: Take a pitcher of water, approximately a litre.

Step Two: Add 5 sliced strawberries, 1 sliced lemon, a few basil leaves.

Step Three: Let it cool in the fridge for a minimum of 20 mins.

Green Detox Drink

This detox drink is for those of you who enjoy drinking their green vegetables instead of eating them. Yes, detox waters and teas are great but none can compare to the nutritious value in this drink. It’s a natural body cleanse of the digestive system and will even give you the bridal glow you want. 

How to make:

Step One: Add three carrots, 3 kale leaves, 2 celery stalks, 2 beets, 1 turnip, 1/2 bunch of spinach, 1/2 cabbage, 1/2 bunch of parsley, 1/2 onion, 2 garlic cloves.

Step Two: Add water to the veggies.

Ginger Honey Lemon Tea

Ginger helps in stimulating effective digestion and helps to release sweat which allows the toxins to be flushed out from the body. Lemon is a natural purifier and cleanses the body.

How to make:

Step One: Take 3 cups of water in a pan and add 1 teaspoon of finely chopped ginger to it before it boils.

Step Two: As it begins to boil add 3 tsp tea leaves to it along with 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon lemon juice.

Almond Milk + Cacao + Chia Seeds + Dates
