To help such couples, a California based woman took to Twitter and shared some advice on what people should do before they decide to say ‘I do’, and the Twitter thread has gone viral.
On July 24, Saag Jaan posted a ‘pre-marriage checklist’ on her Twitter handle, which has now been retweeted by over 61,000 people and over 2,20,000 have liked it. She talks about discussing your 5-10 year timeline, about core beliefs and how even something as basic as clothing can be a problem.

Saag Jaan went on to share how her parents always conditioned her to be a certain way so that she is worthy of marriage.
Further, she added that while this is not a list one should swear by, it definitely is important.
The Twitter thread triggered a slew of responses from across the world. While some supported her and shared their experiences, others downright dismissed her views.
A study led by sociologist Paul Amato, Changes in Spousal Relationships Over the Marital Life Course, that was published in 2018, suggested that marital quality improves over the years for couples who don’t split up. Well, it clearly implies that knowing each other is actually beneficial for a marriage. While we aren’t saying that this Twitter thread is a holy grail for couples who are set to tie the knot, open conversations certainly play an important role.
