The Best Lightweight Moisturisers For All Skin Types To Give You Bebo-Like Skin

This story was updated in January 2019.

Finding the right moisturiser sometimes can feeling like looking for a needle in a haystack! I know a few people who skip a moisturiser because they dread that sticky feeling all day long. But that’s not a full proof plan for beautiful skin. While you may just get by for a few years, age will catch up with you, eventually! (Yes, Mom, I’m looking at you.) So skipping a moisturiser is a no-no.

Take a long hard look at Kareena Kapoor… what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Her fabulous skin and those cheekbones right? I’ve always been envious of her next to perfect glass-like skin. Let me tell you that with the right skincare, that glowing skin is totally possible. That glow is supplemented with lots of hydration, the right skincare regime and a good moisturiser. Whatever be your skin type, the moisturiser you choose needs to work for you. So step number one would be to find out what your skin type is and work with a formulation that suits you. Whether you’re basic bae or a high maintenance diva, who wouldn’t want Bebo’s glowing skin?!

Best Lightweight Moisturisers For All Skin Types

We looked through all the beauty isles and found you the best lightweight moisturisers for ALL skin types. You can apply these during the day or night without feeling sweaty or greasy, check em’ out!

1. Normal Skin

Your skin is not too oily, not too dry. You can survive the day without looking like an oil slick and without feeling too dry. Honestly, this is the most flexible skin type to work with – your skin is the least fussy out of all skin types. You could actually pick and choose absolutely any moisturiser on the market but I would recommend that you opt for something that is a little more potent so you can hydrate while correcting imperfections.

The Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (Rs 1,550) is perfect for all skin types, it will keep your skin hydrated all day long. If you’re looking for something a little less expensive, check out the Olay Moisturizing Skin Cream (Rs 275). The Face Shop Fresh Jeju Lotus Soothing Gel (Rs 490) is a great all over moisturiser you could use on your face and body!

2. Oily Skin

An oily skin type can be best identified by taking a closer look at your T-zone. If your forehead, nose and cheeks get oily very quickly no matter what you do, you’re an oily skin type. Don’t worry you don’t have to skip moisturiser. A lightweight gel-based moisturiser or a matte moisturiser that will help control your sebum production will keep you oil-free all day. All you oily skin girls should know this: People with oily skin tend to age slower! See, there’s a silver lining to everything.

The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (Rs 2,300) has an oil-free formula to hydrate your oily skin without making it oilier. Another option is the Avene Cleanance Mat Mattifying Emulsion (Rs 1,038)

3. Combination Skin

Kinda oily, kinda dry? Sounds like a combination skin type. You need a multitasking moisturiser that will address your dry skin while controlling sebum production on the rest of your face. You basically need a superhero product!

The Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (Rs 1,550) again is a great option. While it won’t keep you matte, it won’t dry out your skin either. Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin (Rs 375) is great too!

Everything causes you to get acne? Sounds like you have an acne prone skin type! This is the Monday of all skin types, the least friendly and possibly the most difficult to deal with. You need to be very careful with what you choose to put on your face. Your best bet would be to consult a dermatologist. I personally have acne-prone skin and the best lightweight moisturiser is the Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel Ph5.5 (Rs 476). The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion (Rs 895) has tea tree oil that helps regulate sebum production and prevent future breakouts. Your skin could also benefit from an entire acne treatment line like the Bioderma Mild To Moderate Acne Kit (Rs 4,885)

5. Dry Skin

Does your skin feel stretchy and dry after you wash it? You probably notice certain areas are drier than the others and your skin is a little flaky. These are classic signs of dry skin. You need to look for hydrating products preferably with Vitamin E in it that will help keep your skin soft and supple. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream (Rs 2,550). The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream (Rs 895) is a lighter consistency than the Kiehl’s one, but it won’t work for extremely dry skin in extreme weather conditions.

Does your skin burn easily? Is your skin intolerant of most things? Maybe you get redness and irritation merely by rubbing your skin. Classic symptoms of sensitive skin. You need a moisturiser that will calm your skin from any potential flare-ups while soothing it from the inside out. The Dermalogica Ultracalming Serum Concentrate (Rs 4,910) and the Bioderma Sensibio Forte (Rs 1,365) will soothe your sensitive skin.

Now that you’re all soft and supple, don’t forget to drink a lot of water – here’s why. It really helps to flush out those toxins and gives your skin that gorgeous glow!
