The (Veggie) Cocktail That Sonam Kapoor Swears By

Sonam Kapoor’s skincare know-how isn’t simply superficial. The B-Town actress often emphasises the importance of eating right for the skin to glow. That’s why Kapoor is careful about what she puts in her body. She guzzles four bottles of water per day along with binging on some glow-inducing veggies that might not be the sweetest to taste.

Trust me. The payoff for consuming Sonam’s go-to veggies is so worth it. Here are 3 of them that she loves, and why.

Carrot

Carrots are rich in antioxidants that fight ‘free’ radicals; molecules that damage your DNA and age your cells rapidly. The more the damage, the more pronounced your wrinkles and lines look. But carrots can prevent and reduce their impact to an extent. This includes U.V-induced damage.

They can even treat dryness and flakiness; symptoms indicating a lack of potassium in the body. Carrots contain potassium, and this allows them to moisturise your skin from the inside.

The beta-carotene in carrots can even lighten blemishes and scars in the process. They even have anti-inflammatory properties that soothe infections and wounds. Another benefit is that carrots can treat acne because they contain calcium, sodium as well as fibre; all of which counter acne and flush toxins out of your system.

The vitamins A and C in carrots can brighten the skin and induce a glow on the face; stimulating the production of collagen for tighter, firmer skin.

Brocolli

Broccoli contains Vitamin C and nicotinamide mononucleotide that boast anti-aging properties and reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles on the face. It even contains a compound called glucoraphanin that repairs your skin and reveals a glowing, radiant complexion underneath. Just like carrots, this one is packed with anti-inflammatory properties that soothe allergies and rashes.

Bottle Gourd

Bottle Gourd, aka doodhi, is chock-full of Vitamin C. This prevents premature ageing and reinstates the youthfulness of your skin. Even the presence of zinc in the vegetable can fight ageing and acne at the same time. It balances the secretion of oil in the skin too; effectively defending you against potential flare-ups. Since it cleanses the body internally, you glow on the outside too.

I know I’m binging on these ASAP!
