Bookmark These Hair Trends Cause They’re Going To Be The Talk Of The Town This Year

It’s that time of the year when everyone is looking to reinvent themselves. Resolutions have been made and are being followed (at least for now). So, if you are following a ‘new year, new me’ mantra too or are simply looking to upgrade your hair game in 2023, these trend predictions are right on the money. From the coolest new haircuts to the best styling techniques, this year is set to be grand in terms of hairstyles.

Without any further ado, let’s jump into them.

7 Hair Trends That Are Taking Over 2023

The Modern Beehive

The beehive is a classic hairstyle that has been rocked by legends like musician Amy Winehouse and actress Bridget Bardot. This hairstyle has come back on the style sheet with a modern twist. Unlike the classic beehive which was more voluminous and set in place with a strong hold of hairspray all over, the modern beehive style features looser textures that keeps the hair soft to the touch while maintaining enough volume to look luxurious. This style typically has an elevated crown area with chunky face-framing tendrils and can be worn in a full updo or half updo style.

The Mixie

We never thought that the mullet hairstyle which dominated the ’80s would ever be back in style but it did last year, and in 2023 it gets even chicer. This year the mullet meets the pixie cut and the results are phenomenal. The marriage of these two cropped haircuts presents us with a modern cut that works on straight, wavy, and curly hairstyles. This haircut is basically a pixie with longer edges such as the fringe, sideburns, and a trim above the nape.

The Italian Bob

The bob haircut is going nowhere. While we had the French bob haircut trending last year which involves a fringe and curved edges, the Italian bob is just slightly different and as stylish as the former. The Italian bob is also a full-bodied short haircut and it is at neck-grazing length which makes it long enough to tie up yet short enough to look edgy. It has subtle layers to make the mane look thicker and more expensive, whether it is blow dried or air-dried. The best part is this haircut is created in such a way that it allows you to rock it with a centre parting or off the centre effortlessly.

The Octopus

Don’t let the name of this hair trend put you off. This haircut is sort of like a ’90s revival of the step cut, just with a new name and format. The octopus haircut is a long length haircut style that makes use of the step cutting technique. You will find distinct shorter layers at chin length, and then longer spaced out layers below. The shape that is created with these variations of layers resembles the head and tentacles of an octopus and that’s why it gets the odd name.

Micro Braids

Micro braids are here to stay because they are just so wildly popular amongst some of the most fashion-forward celebrities like Bella Hadid, FKA Twigs, Hailey Beiber, and at runway shows from brands like Studio 189, Erdem, Altuzarra and more. This popular ’90s way of framing the face is the new cool-girl hair trend that we will be seeing a lot more of this year.

Mid Length Mod

Whether you are growing out your short-cropped haircut or want to trim off your long lengths for a fresher looking mane, this modern mid-length haircut is for you. It features long layers at shoulder lengths and a short messy fringe for a playful look that is uber-chic.

Full-Bodied Blowouts

Glossy, full-bodied blowouts spell classic glam and we are here for it in 2023. This year, we are moving over long loose curls or beachy waves as blowout options to more full-bodied, glossy blowouts with deep side parts that look expensive and add loads of volume to the mane.
