Her messy, intricate French braid is not only super easy to DIY but also a great way to make third-day hair look chic.

Try adding some jewels
If you ever thought a French braid was dated, this embellished one is proof that it’s anything but that. Either weave in some hair jewels into your strands or finish braiding and then add on charms. If you happen to have a stock of ’90s butterfly clips, don’t be afraid to throw those into the mix as well.
Go for a cleaner version
If a messy braid isn’t your thing, go for a tighter version of the look. To keep flyaways at bay, lightly mist your hair with hairspray and then begin plaiting. Then, use a pomade to smoothen out the ends of your hair.
Feel free to try something edgier
This ‘do by far is the easiest one to work with, especially if your hair is usually frizzy. Begin by pulling up the sides of your hair and braiding the centre of the top of your head. Then, pull everything up in a ponytail. If you have straight hair, feel free to take a curling iron and add some texture to your look and if your hair tends to fall flat around the crown, use a mousse or spray to add some texture. Spritz some hairspray on your crown and you’re done!

The trick to nailing the right amount of messiness lies in pulling out strands of your hair after you’re done tying the ends of your braid. This version of the French plait is super feminine, thanks to the oversized bow clip that has been expertly added in the middle of the braid. Worried about your accessory falling off? Use a hair tie to finish your braid and then fasten the bow clip on it.
