Spring Is All About Oversized Collars & Here’s Every Style You Need To Stock On RN

When you think of spring trends, chances are that your thoughts instantly go to fun skirts and vibrant florals. However, this season is all about big collar energy and this is one fashion trend that we simply cannot have enough of. While Spring 2019 was all about exaggerated sleeves, the drama this year gets translated to the collars as they swiftly take over the fashion scene worldwide.

From Sonam Kapoor to Bella Hadid, oversized collars have found an easy space in the celebrity fashion arsenal and to keep you well-versed with the trend, we have made a list of all the statement collar styles that you must keep an eye on this season:

Oversized Disco Collar

Needless to say, this collar gets its name from the flamboyant 70s aka the disco era. As refreshing as it gets, this collar style deserves extra credits for the range of styling opportunities it provides you with. It’s a versatile style that can easily go from sharp to chic depending on how you choose to style it and goes equally well with a blazer as well as a pair of casual denim. It was only recently that numero uno fashionista Sonam Kapoor was seen sporting the collar on two different occasions and literally, both the looks are a lesson in sartorial prowess.

Oversized Bib Collar

Similar in style and structure to the disco collar, it is the flat style of the bib collar that sets it apart. Thus, instead of falling free on the shoulders, this one is designed to lay flat on your chest. While it is the international fashion giant GANNI that took the world by storm earlier this year with its array of oversized bib collars, Zara’s current arsenal is equally impressive.

Endorsed by the likes of Kendell Jenner and Bella Hadid, this collar style has to be your pick if you love experimentation.

Peter Pan Collars

A slightly demure version of the oversized bib-collar, this gold-old collar style retains its USP for its cutesy appeal. One of the most popular flat collar styles, it is cut to fit around the neckline and then lie flat upon the torso. This is a look for the minimalist fashionista and you must have seen Blaire Waldorf acing it in one of the Gossip Girl episodes.

An evergreen style, while the peter pan collars never got out of style, they are having quite a fashion moment right now. Right from International high-fashion giants like Dolce & Gabbana to your everyday wardrobe staple, Zara, almost every brand has stocked some peter pan collars in their Spring/Summer’ 20 collections and if this doesn’t convince you to stock some then we really don’t know what would.

Victorian Collar

Invoking the fashion sensibilities of the 19th century, this collar style is for those who like all things vintage. Highlighted by lace and ruffle details, this collar style is all about exuding the Victorian vibes, something that no fashion enthusiast can ever have enough of.

As classic as it gets, this collar style is something absolutely worth stocking on. Pair the quaint collared shirt with a solid skater skirt or a pair of cigarette pants, add some sleek pumps to the look, and you’re good to go.

And before we sign off, here’s a style tip for the statement collar trend: the wilder the better! Get us ladies? How are you all wearing your collars this season?
