These Tips And Tricks Will Give You A Chiselled Jawline And Those Supermodel Cheekbones!

If there’s something all men and women desire, it’s that sculpted, chiselled jawline. It’s a natural human tendency to be attracted to people who have defined, sculpted facial features. While all of us have different face shapes and different facial features, we all desire those high cheekbones and sharp jawlines. The shape of our face largely dictates how pronounced our facial features look. Some of us are genetically blessed with high cheekbones while a lot of us have chubby cheeks. If you have a round face or if you are slightly chubby, your facial features don’t tend to look as sculpted. But there’s an easy fix for that. We can all have more defined and sculpted facial features.

So if you’re wondering how you can get those supermodel-like cheekbones, get rid of your double chin and give your jawline some definition, we’ve got a few things that you can try out on how to get perfect jawline!

Facial Exercises

You look to cardio and weight training to shed excess weight on your body, similarly, there are a few exercises you can do every day that will help sculpt your facial muscles. Facial exercises are a quick and easy way to promote blood circulation, help you tone up your facial muscles and help get rid of excess fat from your face and neck, all of which in turn will help you look younger.

Facial exercises are pretty easy to do, you don’t really need any tools and you can do them anywhere and at any time. Set aside 10-15 minutes of your day to give your facial muscles a workout and you’ll see the difference on your face in a matter of weeks.

Fish face

The easiest and possibly cutest facial exercise for jawline you can do is called a fish face exercise. You can do this exercise anywhere, sitting, standing and even lying down. It’s easy, effective and you’ll feel the difference in a few days. This exercise will help you firm up your cheeks and your jaw. Suck your cheeks inside your mouth and try to smile. Hold the pose for about 5 seconds. Repeat the exercise about 10-15 times, you should feel slight soreness after each repetition. That’s a good pain, it means that your muscles are being used. Once you get used to the exercise, you could gradually increase the number of repetitions.

Chewing gum

The easiest, most enjoyable facial exercise is chewing gum. It gives your jawline and your face great definition. All that chewing strengthens your jaw muscles getting rid of any fat and besides, it gives you fresh smelling breath all day. Sounds like a win-win, doesn’t it? Just make sure you find gum that’s sugar-free.

Chin Ups

This exercise is easiest when done sitting down. It’s great for firming up your chin and getting rid of a double chin and other neck fat. Sit up straight on a chair and look up at the ceiling. Pretend like you’re trying to kiss something that’s far away from your lips. You should feel the burn under your chin and on your neck. The more you strain, the more burn you’ll feel! Hold the kissing pose for 5 seconds and do about 10-15 repetitions of these chin-ups.

Facial massage with your hands

If you are fond of putting on a sheet mask or slathering on moisturisers and facial oil every night, using facial massagers or simple face massage techniques will be right up your alley. Give your face a simple massage by massaging your temples in small circular motions. This will increase the blood circulation to your entire face and also helps reduce headaches. Use some serum, moisturiser or even a facial oil to do this to make it easier. If you want to massage your cheekbones, clench your fists and using your knuckles, smooth over your cheekbones in upward and outward motions. This movement will improve blood circulation, firm and tone your skin while getting rid of puffiness.

Facial massage with tools

If you would rather use a facial massage tool, you could try jade rollers, contour definers and rose quartz sculpting tools. You could use these on dry skin, along with moisturiser, facial oil or serum and even over a sheet mask. They will increase blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage and define your facial features. Always remember to use upward and outward motions!

Tongue Twister

Another facial exercise for jawline that can be performed practically anywhere is the tongue twister. I like to do this at my desk! This exercise is beneficial for anyone who wants to get rid of a double chin. Place your tongue firmly up on the roof of your mouth. It should be behind your teeth. Press it up there firmly until you feel the pressure and then start humming. The vibrations this creates will help tone up your muscles!

Clenching your jaw

Giphy

Want your jawline to look more pronounced and sculpted? This simple exercise will help bring out the natural contours of your jaw. Simply clench your jaw for 10 seconds and release, repeat about 10-15 times. This will help tone your face and add more definition to your face.

O’s and E’s

Do you feel like your mouth is a bit droopy and you have wrinkles and smile lines around your mouth? Then these facial exercises are perfect for you! Remember your vowels – A, E, I, O, U and repeatedly say them out aloud with as many expressions as possible. Don’t show your teeth though, this will make the exercise more effective. Repeat this about 10-15 times.

Smile

Bet you didn’t know that being happy and smiling a lot was equivalent to a facial workout, right?! Now that you know, you can smile a couple of hundred times a day. Since we associate smiling with happiness and joy, you’ll automatically feel better too!

Consume Less Salt

Consumption of too much salt can lead to water retention which makes your body look and feel bloated. Most dieticians recommend a low carb and low salt diet if you’re trying to lose weight.

Drink more water

Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Drinking water helps your body better flush out toxins, improves your metabolism, improves the texture of your skin and hair and helps you lose weight faster. The next time you’re gravitating towards that soda, we would recommend you give infused water a go. Infuse a gallon of water overnight with cucumbers, ginger, mint and lime. Sip on this water all of the next day. It will reduce your cravings and help your body detox.

Eat Your Veggies

While all of these options will help you better define your facial features, always remember to supplement it with a healthy diet. Consuming a healthy mix of coloured foods will ensure that your body gets its required dose of nutrients.

Sleep Well

They call it beauty sleep for a reason! Sleeping for the recommended 8 hours every night helps your body recover and rejuvenate. When you get enough sleep, you lose weight faster.

Makeup

If you need immediate results, using makeup is a great way to add some dimension to your face. I’m sure you’ve heard of contouring and highlighting, almost every single influencer, makeup artist, celebrity and beauty blogger swears by these makeup techniques. You don’t have to be a makeup artist or an expert to understand how to contour and highlight. Just remember the simple principle of shadows. Whatever features you wish to push back, you darken them with contour and whatever features you wish to bring forward you highlight. Now that you’ve understood the basics, let’s see what kind of makeup can be used to give the illusion of a sculpted face.

With any kind of makeup, it’s important to use the right tools and remember to blend! The more you blend, the more natural it looks. If you’re using cream products, use a damp beauty blender to blend out any excess product and if you’re using powder products, a stippling brush will make sure that your makeup looks airbrushed.

Contouring

Shutterstock

Contouring focuses on targeted areas like your cheekbones, jawline and nose. You can make all these features look more pronounced by adding a darker shade of foundation along the contours of your face. You can use cream, liquid and powder contouring products. If you’re a beginner, powder contour will be the easiest to master. And if you’re familiar with makeup then try cream contour for a more defined look.

To contour your cheekbones, make a fish face and apply the product from the side of your ears going towards your mouth. To contour your jawline, apply contour just above your jaw bone. To contour your nose, apply two thin lines of contour along the bridge of your nose. If you have a wide nose and you want it to look slimmer, draw a horizontal line connecting the other two on the tip of your nose. Always blend out your contour in upward and outward motions.

Highlighting

Highlighting can be done using a lighter shade of base product like foundation or concealer and even with a shimmery highlighter. You want to add this to areas of your face where the sunlight would naturally hit it. The sides of your forehead, the bridge of your nose, your chin and the tops of your cheekbones are usually places where one applies highlighter.

Blush

If you don’t want to highlight and contour, use your blush in a way that it will accentuate your cheekbones and hug your face perfectly. Before you apply blush, it’s important to understand the shape of your face. We’re all pretty unique and every face is different. Wondering what’s the perfect type of blush that will suit your face shape? Check out this post.

Bronzer

A bronzer is a great way to give your face an all over sunkissed glow. It’s the perfect way to fake that post-vacation tan. And with bronzer, you needn’t be too precise either. All you need to do is tap a fluffy brush into some bronzer and run it along the perimeter of your face. Blend your bronzer outwards for the most natural looking tan line.

Other Ways

If you don’t like any of these ways, there are always medical procedures that you can seek the help of. Your dermatologist will be able to guide you on procedures like facelifts, botox, fillers and liposuction. While we won’t recommend you go the surgical route, the choice is yours.

FAQ’s

1. How do you get a more defined jawline?

We all have different bone structures that give our face a unique shape. Some of us have a round face and no matter what we do, our features will never look as defined as some other people’s. But if you lead a healthy lifestyle, work out regularly and do a few facial exercises every day your facial features will start poppin’ in no time! And if you’re still not happy with the way your jawline looks, perform the above mentioned facial exercises and use the makeup techniques to add further shape and definition to your face.

2. Does chewing gum improve your jawline?

Yes, it does, the constant chewing is an exercise for your jaw. Just make sure you find sugar-free gum though so it’s healthy to keep eating every day.

3. Do facial exercises really work?

Yes, they do. They help to improve blood circulation and make your skin look firmer and youthful. As long as you supplement the facial exercises with a healthy lifestyle and good food habits, you will be pleased with the results.
