Be Prepared To Bare It All Because Designers Are Bringing The Cleavage BACK!

Cleavage and high fashion rarely go hand in hand. Cleavage is fashionable, yes, but often gets overlooked to accommodate slender models on the runway. With a shift in this practice, which almost feels like a feminist move, fashion is ready to take the plunge again! Models with fuller figures and cleavage-baring outfits were THE norm at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. We sure got a lesson on how to show off cleavage and look classy at the same time. Intrigued enough? Let us present our case: a deep dive into plunging necklines and sultry bustiers (pardon the pun).

Plunging Necklines

Dropping it low with their exquisite creations, designers like Anamika Khanna and Ridhi Mehra did not shy away from plunging necklines cut an inch lower. Shyamal & Bhumika presented some intense sequined plunges of their own.

Modest Cover-Ups

Keeping it on the down low, design houses Bloni Atelier and Shantanu & Nikhil Mehra decided to add a touch of modesty to their busty creations. Mesh overlays, net capes and caged blouses were used to create a bit of a tease on the LFW runway!

Notorious V-necklines

From what we know, V-cut tops and dresses are the most popular style when it comes to showing off cleavage. Anita Dongre and Tarun Tahiliani used some sharp V-cut necklines in their bridal numbers, whereas Anamika Khanna used a mere jacket to create a risque look.

Low Cut Cholis

We think the biggest trend to have hit bridal wear this season is extravagant lehengas paired with simpler, low cut cholis. House of Kotwara and Shloka Sudhakar dressed their showstoppers in these statement looks, while Shyamal & Bhumika debuted a smart shimmery choli for the millennial bride!

Chic Bustiers

Falguni & Shane Peacock stunned the audience with their first ever menswear line in all its deliciously dark toned glory. Amongst that was showstopper Sonakshi’s pantsuit, emboldened by a sexy bustier that we cannot wait to get out hands on!

Crop, Peek And Tie-Up!

Ragini Ahuja’s denim-dominated collection gave us busty crop tops. While Ridhi Mehra designed some flowy dresses with keyhole details at the bust. Prospective summer trends in the making… remember, you first saw them here first!
