The Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale at the LFW Summer Resort 2018 was indeed a beautiful end to a frenetic week. The closing show took place at Bandra Fort and believe me, the thumping carnival beats, the theatrical dance performance and tasteful detailing at the venue, has me at a lost for words! Truth be told, I still can’t get over Anamika Khanna’s collection from last night – it was bold, artsy and dramatic.
What’s amazing is that her designs were influenced by the new generation of millennials. The kind of personalities who are bold enough to wear their individuality on their sleeve. To give each outfit a personality, she made use of traditional zardozi in experimental ways and mixed various textiles, colours and prints. This, fused together with the ‘nudes reinvented’ left the crowd spellbound. Kareena Kapoor Khan was a befitting showstopper for this magnificent collection, believe me, I now know what being starstruck really feels like.
Here’s what Anamika Khanna had to say about her experience at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018, “It’s always fun to be back at Lakmé Fashion Week and the Grand Finale excites me the most. Interpreting Lakmé’s beauty theme of ‘Nudes Reinvented’ worked perfectly with my collection, as both trends are big globally and have their own distinct flavour, which makes them unique.”
However, the one celebrity who stole the show last night was none other than our favourite B-Town actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan! And gosh, did she look like a beauty in that black, neatly-draped lace saree. To fill you in on some more fashion and beauty deets about Kareena’s iconic look, Anamika revealed that she paired the saree with pants, a corset belt and a metallic ear cuff. Not to forget that Kareena’s nude lips, bold eyeliner, curled lashes and defined brows, made her make-up game a win!
The actress also further went on to explain that as far as an actor’s personal and professional life is concerned, fashion should be considered a top priority. Since films require an actor to experiment with different roles, costumes play a vital role in bringing a character to life. (And boy, did she breathe life into Anamika Khanna’s collection! *Wink*)
She believes that over time, actors have become more fashion conscious. However, if a person is comfortable with what they’re wearing, then it automatically is considered to be stylish and fashionable.
In a nutshell, the show turned out to be a grand affair and catching a glimpse of showstopper, Kareena Kapoor, own the ramp made my LFW experience even richer. Until next time…
