Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput have been married for a little over two years but every time we spot them together, it looks like they’re still in their honeymoon phase. Their love story is no less than a fairytale – a girl next door meets her Prince Charming (in this case, a Bollywood actor) and in no time, she’s a popular face with her own fan base. You can see the paparazzi often standing hawk-eyed to catch a glimpse of her. And it did not take long for Mira to carve out a niche for herself in B-town. The yummy mummy was the showstopper for Anita Dongre at the Lakme Fashion Week yesterday and joining her on the ramp was her darling husband, Shahid Kapoor.
Shahid looked dapper in a cream-coloured bandhgala with turquoise detailing, while Mira was styled in a cream-blue-pink lehenga with lovely floral details from the collection titled, Songs of Summer. Channelling a summer bride, Mira looked beautiful in dull-gold jewellery, soft curls and delicate white flowers in her hair.
Anita Dongre’s collection is inspired by the fashion of the 50s and combines a symphony of subtle pastels, light fabrics and floral and botanical motifs. “The silhouettes and fabrics were elegant and comfortable. Instead of restrictive clothing, free-flowing garments took centre stage in the form of billowy pleated midi skirts, wrap tops and loose palazzo pants. Summer is the time to wear easy breezy silhouettes, and the 50s presented the perfect inspiration to create garments that won’t bog you down,” shared the designer in an interview with a leading news channel.
Both Shahid and Mira were all praises for the designer and Mira shared how glad she was to have made her ramp debut with Anita Dongre and with her husband by her side. Mira and Anita are good friends and Mira even wore a creation by the designer for her wedding. Here’s what they had to say…
