Let Her Split The Bill! 9 Things Guys Need To Stop Doing On A First Date

The first dates are exciting! Getting dressed, picking the right venue, exchanging nervous glances and then finding a connection—it’s the best part of a relationship. While these moments can be exciting, there are a few things men often do on first dates that can kill the vibe.

We get that it can be tough to figure out the best way to go about a date, but there are a few ground rules! So, let’s talk about all the things guys need to stop doing on first dates STAT!

While many women love chivalrous gentlemen not everyone is into it! Don’t assume that you have to pay the bill. More often than not, women like to split the bill. If she is asking you to split the cheque, don’t dismiss her!

Don’t Put Down Other Women

Honestly, who thinks that ‘you are not like other girls’ or ‘beauty with brains’ is a compliment? These comments are certainly not okay! Don’t bash other women on the first date, or ever. When you tell a woman she’s “different” or “better” than other women, you come off as sexist. This is the biggest red flag and you won’t get a second date for sure.

Don’t Pretend To Be Someone You Are Not

Everyone tries to put their best foot forward on a first date but that doesn’t mean you should pretend to be someone you are not. It is a date, not a job interview. Be proud of who you are and you’ll find what you are looking for.

Getting intimate on a first date is a personal choice. Some people are completely on-board with it whereas others aren’t okay with it. And both the choices are valid! So, don’t go on a date expecting to get laid. The most important thing is feeling comfortable with each other and taking it from there. Remember: Consent is the most important thing!

Don’t Make Inappropriate Comments About Her Body

It is never cool to make comments or jokes about someone’s body. Even when it comes to compliments, there are many ways in which you can praise someone without objectifying them. For example: ‘I love your energy!’ ‘You are such a good listener’ ‘I admire your adventurous spirit’ and more.

Don’t Check Your Phone Constantly

This is just rude. If you are on a date with someone, just spend time with them. Constantly checking your phone during a date shows that you are waiting for it to be over. How can you get to know someone if you’re constantly staring at the ‘Gram? You can’t! If you have an important call to attend, inform your date about it and then take it. Her time is valuable too!

Don’t Whine About Your Ex

Sure, we all go through bad breakups but talking your date’s ear off about it is not okay. If you guys are discussing past relationships, then you can mention your ex. But don’t start a bashing session—it’s not a good look!

Don’t Make Suggestive Remarks

Flirting is the most fun part of the first date but making suggestive remarks is off-putting. If your date is not comfortable with certain comments, just kill the topic right away.
