One of the many things women love about technology is that it gives us the power to take screenshots. They just make our daily life so easy! There's nothing that the feature of pressing the power key and the volume key together can't do. You can snapshot something your boyfriend said to you and save it as proof for later, capture an awkward moment in someone's Instagram story, save a motivational quote for when you're feeling low, discuss with your bestie which guy to go out on a date with or which dress to buy, etc etc. But the new update of WhatsApp is out to make our life tougher.
In order to become a better, safer and more secure messaging network, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that will no longer allow users to take or share screenshots of chats. The activity is seen as a violation of privacy, hence conversation screenshots are being blocked on the platform.

Now, how is your best friend going to help you decide whether it's your fault or your boyfriend's fault this time? How are you going to discuss sassy comebacks now? HOW?
Titled 'Fingerprint security', the new feature is an additional biometric authentication for WhatsApp, just like you have one to unlock your phone. What this means is that those who enable the fingerprint sensor to lock/unlock WhatsApp on their phone will not be allowed to take screenshots of chats.
There's no confirmation on whether the new update will actually come with this authentication. It's not even available for beta users right now. Reports suggest the feature's availability on Android devices, however, there's no information about the same for iOS users yet. Though, WhatsApp on iPhones already supports Face ID/Touch ID recognition. But there’s no restriction as such that blocks users from taking screenshots of chats.
We'll have to wait and watch the Cupertino-based company's next move.
