The Internet Is Going Berserk Over ‘Treatment Buns’ — Here’s What You Need To Know

The slicked-back bun has become quite the star-studded staple over the last couple of years. Bella Hadid’s power-packed strides are almost always accompanied by a wet-glamm, swept-back ‘do that looks every bit glamorous, and Kim K’s hairstylist is constantly putting together tutorials for us to take cues from for our night-outs.

While the slicked-back bun continues selling itself as accessible yet glamorous, it has become even more versatile this past month — thanks to a new hair-care hack that has been doing the rounds on the Internet. The hack has blessed the bun with ultra-nourishing abilities, and it’s here to pamper your hair like never before. Here’s everything that you need to know about the treatment bun.

They’re Calling It The Slicked-Back Bun With A Twist

It’s Like Treating Your Hair While Looking All Glamorous

The process involves drenching your hair in dollops of a leave-on mask before sweeping all of it back into a bun for a couple of hours. The idea is that you enjoy a slicked-back moment while healing and treating the mane, on the go. You trade in your serums, gels, and sprays for a leave-in treatment, and you let it sit in your hair before washing it off. The result is a wet-glam, slicked-back bun that borrows from the glamour of a celeb-approved look as well as the hair-loving properties of a mask. Trust that it makes very, very unwashed and greasy hair look put together in minutes.

Choose A Mask Based On Your Concern/s

You can tailor the treatment to suit your preferences and concerns. If your hair is dry, try indulging in a moisture-laden mask. If it’s damaged, try a damage-repair mask. The best part about this treatment is that it accommodates different types and textures of hair.

But How Do You Do It?

Though Chris Appleton recreates the slicked-back bun with pomade and gels, you can follow the same steps as demonstrated in the reel. Just split your hair into two sections: the top half and the bottom half. Comb through the bottom half while pulling it as close to the nape of your neck as possible. Secure this section with an elastic before moving on to the top-half of the hair. Do a centre part like Appleton does on the model’s hair — all while massaging the mask into your hair in the same way — and add the section to the elastic too. Twist the hair into a bun and use some pins to tuck the flicks in. Or not.

Just spread more formula on areas where flyaways and breakage are rampant. The mask should settle them. You can continue going on about your day or night. Just add a berry-red lipstick and cat-eye flicks to the equation, and you’re enjoying a celeb-approved ‘do in no time.
