Excuse us if we sound a little tipsy here for we are currently riding that Front Row high. The FDCI India Couture Week is finally back to its glitz and glory after two years of running digital. And we gotta say that nothing, just nothing compares to the joy of sitting in the audience and watching those garments come to life. Some (read, we) might say that it’s even therapeutic and you’d have to agree. How else will you explain the sartorial bliss that we are in after attending Varun Bahl’s stellar show last night?
Last night, the ace designer celebrated handcrafted embroideries and gave couture a global avatar by putting a spin on traditional Indian designs. Infusing his experimental silhouettes with elements from the wilderness of the forest and the exotic flora, Varun presented his ‘New Leaf’ collection that played with different textures and embroideries. To showcase the perfect confluence of the traditional and contemporary, Pushpa actress Rashmika Mandanna joined the designer as his showstopper. It was her ramp debut and gurllll, did she kill it with her grace and charm! Here’s everything that we loved about Rashmika’s Varun Bahl look:
Killed It! Rashmika Mandanna’s Winning Ramp Debut
When we talk of the recent rise of Pan Indian cinema and movie stars, Rashmika Mandanna is easily one of the first names that come to mind. In just half a decade of her acting career, the actress has firmly made her position in Indian cinema and from music videos to films, everything that she touches turns gold. Case in point—Rashmika’s ramp debut last night for Varun Bahl’s couture show.
The actress’s look included a crimson floral embroidered skirt embellished with cutdana, beads, crystals, and multi-coloured applique accents. It was paired with a rich-embroidered corset featuring contrasting orange tassels at the hem. Rashmika’s look was finished off with a polki choker and wild, wavy hair.
Currently, the internet is going gaga over Rashmika’s look and we get why. It is fresh, fun, and oh-so-flamboyant. Plus, the actress gave the outfit a life of its own.
