Survey Suggests Vegetarians Have A Better Sex Life Than Meat Eaters & We’ve Got Some Qs

Consulting sex therapists, trying all kinds of yoga asanas–there’s not much that people aren’t willing to try to improve their sex life. But what if I told you that you could improve your sex life by bringing in one lifestyle change into play? Yes, you read that right. According to a recent survey published by UK-based Hucknall Dispatch, vegetarians have more and better sex than meat-eaters. Not just that, the report suggests that non-vegetarians are selfish in bed and unhappy in their sex lives compared to vegetarians.

I don’t know about you, but as a non-vegetarian, I am wildly confused and frankly a little offended by this study, because what does it even imply? That because I consume meat I am automatically selfish in bed? And what happens if I add loads of veggies to my meat salad–do I become significantly less selfish? *eye roll*

84% Vegetarians Are Happy With Their Sex Lives: Survey

Nearly 500 vegetarians and 500 non-vegetarians were surveyed by UK’s largest extra-marital portal, IllicitEncounters.com. Shady sources aside, here’s what they found:

  • About 57% people said they make love three-four times a week
  • About 49% non-vegetarians enjoyed the action between the sheets one-two times a week only!
  • 84% vegetarians indicated that they are satisfied with their sex lives
  • 92% vegetarians enjoyed making out, 88% liked foreplay and 48% enjoyed dirty talk. On the other hand, 79% meat-eaters preferred making out, 68% enjoyed foreplay and just 35% liked dirty talk.

What’s The Link Between Veggies & Sex Drive?

Well, as far-fetched as it may seem, the report does suggest reasoning behind why vegetarians have a better sex life. Jessica Leoni from the portal indicated that vegetarians eat foods that contain natural aphrodisiacs which in turn promote sexual excitement. These are greens such as maca, fenugreek leaves, ginseng and aniseed. Plant-based foods like chickpeas and, avocados are heavy in zinc and vitamins B, which also increases sexual desire.

According to the study, if you go a step ahead and go vegan, then you can also increase serotonin levels, which can not only increase libido but also keep you happier.

As a meat eater, I would like to respectfully disagree. Good food has a great impact on my mood, and if someone hands me a salad instead of my beloved chicken tikka, I am certainly NOT going to be in the mood for sex.

What is your take? Would you go green in pursuit of a better sex life? Or would you choose fish fry over foreplay?
