The name Nusrat Jahan has been trending all day. Kolkata-based Nusrat Jahan, a popular Bengali actress, got married earlier today in an intimate ceremony in Turkey. She shared the news on social media in a picture with her now husband Nikhil Jain, who is a businessman in Kolkata, and wrote, “Towards a happily ever after with @nikhiljain09 ❤️.”
Nusrat and Nikhil tied the knot at Six Place Kapalankya, a luxury resort located in Milas near Bodrum, Turkey. She wore a red bridal lehenga with silver embroidery by Rangoli, her husband’s couture store, while the groom wore an off-white sherwani.
The 29-year-old is better known as MP Nusrat Jahan now. She contested her first ever election in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2019 from the Basirhat seat in Kolkata and won with a huge margin. She is not a Member of Parliament, representing All India Trinamool Congress.
She posted this picture of herself outside the Parliament in Delhi after winning the seat and wrote, “A new beginning..!! I thank @mamataofficial and people of my Basirhat constituency to have belief in me.” Nusrat is the youngest MP.
Now, here comes the twist. Today, on the day of her wedding, was also her oath ceremony as the MP, and she missed it because of the wedding. This is one of the reasons that she has been trending all day on social media today.
What an interesting clash of events!
The actress-cum-MP took to her Instagram stories earlier today and posted a close-up shot of herself sitting hand-in-hand with her new hubby. She wrote, “Never will we let go!! @nikhiljain09 cant thank u enough..”
Nusrat and Nikhil had two wedding ceremonies – a traditional Indian ceremony (as shown above) as well as a Christian-themed white wedding. Have a look at their picture from the latter. It’s simply breathtaking.
Knotting Bells
The pre-wedding functions included a yacht party, bohemian-themed mehendi, sun-kissed party that happened on June 17-18 in Bodrum. Fancy, right? As for their wedding, Nusrat and Nikhil had a minimalist ceremony. Have a look at their beautiful wedding video below:
The newly-wed couple has planned an extravagant reception at a luxury hotel in Kolkata on July 4. Many Bengali film personalities and politicians are expected to attend the party.
