Last week, Outhouse opened the Atelier designer showroom at Lakme Fashion Week with a nostalgic Y2K-inspired collection. It was a welcome change as we sat cheering for an entirely accessory based line that went viral in no time. Titled ‘Oh Dopamine,’ the collection lived up to its name as we marvelled at the statement accessories with a child’s excitement. At the heart of the line were our fondest memories of the 2000s—bright motifs and statement accessories. It was a sight to behold, a show that turned out to be every 90s kid’s delight. Here’s a rundown on the entire line:

What Are We Loving

What sets the Dopamine collection apart is the fact that it is not scared of pushing the envelope. It is inspired by designer duo, Kaabia and Sasha Grewal’s teen years in the 2000s. As they share, their fashion choices were heavily influenced by the iconic divas of this era like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera. Back then, fashion was the perfect mix of street style and high octane glamm. The emphasis was on accessories and they often became the key focus of outfits.

With Dopamine, Kaabia and Sasha are resurrecting the aesthetic by bringing back OTT accessories. Here’s everything that we are loving about the new collection:

Philosophy

“Our inspiration for this collection was not only the style of the iconic divas but also the essence of self-expression that was so strongly seeped into the fabric of their silhouettes. Be it Britney or Beyonce, these icons inspired a whole generation of women as their outfits were a manifestation of their unique self-expression. We wanted to stay true to this self-expression and the joyful liberation that comes from it. When we think about the 2000’s, we are filled with nostalgia and the comfort that comes with it. We were sure that if we are making a collection inspired by the 2000s, we have to reignite the same feeling of nostalgia we are overcome with,” share Kaabia and Sasha.
