These B-Town Brides Really Said No To Minimalism

Minimalism has become a staple for today’s B-Town brides. While I love how Kiara, Alia, and Athiya embraced the pared-down bridal looks, I do miss watching my favourite celebs go all in on D-day like they used to.

The barely-there, second-skin makeup was a no-no for them. Think Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Not only did they choose red ensembles, but their hair and makeup were OTT too.

And I love that. Here’s looking back at four of my favourite Bollywood bridal beauty looks.

Khoobsurat Doesn’t Even Start To Describe It

While Kiara’s mehendi was light and minimal, Sonam’s was the opposite. She went all in. She even painted her lips red — a colour we’re deprived of these days. Her MUA didn’t just tightline the eyes but created wings too. Her blush also popped.

I think the Shiseido Minimalist Blush will be a fit for this look. Sonam didn’t just settle for a simple Maang Tikka either. She opted for a princess-like Matha Patti.

Our Desi Girl Did It The Ultimate Desi Way

Just like Sonam, Priyanka ditched the peaches and pinks for a red pout and I recommend the shade Red Liberation by Maybelline if you’re looking for soft red lips. That, in itself, is an OTT statement considering how lowkey today’s brides are. I’m also not seeing the second-skin finish that Alia and Kiara are fans of.

PCJ went all Bajirao Mastaani with the larger-than-life nose ring. I almost forgot what glamm looked like on brides.

Deepika’s Bronzed Glamm Did It For Me

Instead of settling for soft, mascara-laden lashes, Deepika’s MUA lined the upper and lower lids with bold kohl. Padukone is Konkani and this choice depicted her roots. She didn’t shy away from faux lashes, but her lipstick was a subtle nude.

I use the MyGlamm Treasure It Suede Matte Lipstick in the shade Love Triangle and it is similar to the shade DP was wearing.

Her Makeup Said ‘Beauty From Bengal’

Bipasha Basu took it to another level. Not just with the blood-red lipstick. But with the Bengali-inspired bindis above her eyebrows. Even the bindi in the centre was larger than Deepika’s and Priyanka’s. She went in with heavy cat-eye flicks too. You can use the Superfoods Raven Waterproof Kajal by MyGlamm to create it. And the jewellery just added more drama to the look.

I wonder if we’re going to see a bride go all out again. Though I’m more of a minimalist, I think weddings warrant a little extravagance. Whoever plans on tying the knot next, I’m counting on you.
