Shah Rukh Khan‘s latest cinematic extravaganza, Jawan, isn’t just breaking box office records; it’s also a treasure trove of hidden delights waiting to be unearthed. As Jawan continues its reign as Bollywood’s crowning glory, we are going to lift the veil on the film’s most enigmatic secrets, and trust me, you wouldn’t have noticed these hidden gems. Let’s dive deep into its layers and explore the intriguing Easter eggs that will leave you in awe.
Caution: Spoilers Alert!
A Soulful Connection To Swades
Shah Rukh Khan‘s most underrated film is probably Swades. In the 2004 film, SRK’s character was raised by an elderly woman named Kaveri Amma, who was played by Kishori Amma. In 2020, Kishori Amma passed away, and guess what? Jawan had a special tribute for her! In Jawan, SRK’s character, Azad is also raised by an old woman named Kaveri Amma, played by Riddhi Dogra.
Consistency Of The Man Who Played The Farmer
The most heartbreaking part of Jawan was when they showed the struggles of a farmer in debt. Omkar Das Manikpuri, who played the role of the farmer in the film, was also a farmer named Nattha in the 2010 film Peepli Live. In Jawan, he died by committing suicide, and in Peepli Live, he wanted to die.
Love For Aryan Khan
Shah Rukh Khan plays a double role in the film – an older SRK who is the father and a younger SRK who is his long-lost son. In one of the scenes, a character refers to the older SRK as Mufasa from The Lion King and the son as Simba. And remember in The Lion King (Hindi) released in 2019, SRK and Aryan did the voiceovers? Not just this, there’s also a dialogue in the film where the older SRK says, “Bete ko haath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar.” Fans are convinced that this dialogue is inspired by the whole Aryan Khan yatch party controversy.
Connection With Rowdy Rathore
In Jawan, the older SRK’s name is Vikram Rathore and he introduces himself as “Rathore… Vikram Rathore.” This is a direct reference to Akshay Kumar’s film Rowdy Rathore in which he also played a double role and one of his characters was named Vikram Rathore.
Rahul… Naam Toh Suna Hoga
One of SRK’s most famous dialogues is “Rahul… Naam toh sun hoga,” from the film Dil Toh Pagal Hai. In Jawan, the older SRK introduces himself as, “Vikram Rathore, naam toh suna hoga.” This created a sense of nostalgia among the audience.
Sanjay Dutt – The OG Khalnayak!
I could’ve never imagined that watching Sanjay Dutt onscreen would give me so much excitement. His character made a surprise appearance and was heard singing, “Nayak nahi, khalnayak hoon main.” This was an homage to one of his most popular characters.
Connection To The Family Man
At the start of the film, Priyamani’s character helps a young girl, Alia (who plays the daughter of Vijay Sethupati), buy a metro ticket. The young girl is Ashlesha Thakur who actually played Priyamani’s daughter in the web series, The Family Man.
Now you know how much thought goes into the making of a blockbuster film!
