These Iconic K-Pop Hair Moments Have Been Etched In Our Memories Forever!

K-pop is revolutionary—what with this language-transcending industry crossing borders, and introducing us to a world of music interspersed with nuanced choreographies, themes, and storylines. I think I started tuning into the genre back in 2017—thanks to the world-renowned boy band, BTS. I enjoyed their music more than I’d anticipated, and I’d like to think it was because of how versatile the industry is as a whole—from the aesthetics of a music video to the striking splashes of colours bedecking idols’ hair, I was hooked. And I still am. That’s why I’m rounding up some of my all-time-favourite K-pop hair looks—because, let’s face it, they can pull off anything.

Hey, Can You Spot Your Bias’ Iconic Hair Look?

How You Like That?

Jennie from BLACKPINK strikes a pose with face-framing pieces of her hair coated in a hue of blonde, and I cannot stop obsessing over the contrast between the blonde and the jet-black—and how reminiscent this look is of Dua Lipa’s aesthetic from the 2020 Grammys.

Hello, Jungkook’s Forever Crush

IU isn’t one to experiment with colours, and that’s why this one caught us off-guard (in the best way possible). I think every idol has drenched their hair in variations of blue at some point in time, and we’re glad IU joined in on the bandwagon. The bangs, accompanied by a casual top-knot, pull this look together effortlessly.

She’s Gonna Hit You With DDU-DU DDU-DU

I remember watching DDU-DU DDU-DU for the first time and falling in love with Rose’s fiery-red hair instantly. This one has to be one of my favourites from the BLACKPINK look-book.

Black And Yellow? More Like Black And Blonde

Remember when Solar from MAMAMOO debuted a half-green, half-black ‘do for one of her performances? Yeah—if that didn’t cement her reputation as one of the most experimental with beauty in the industry, we don’t know what will. But this one’s another one of her looks that we quite liked—a two-toned ponytail with the length fashioned in a shade of blonde.

Bubble-Gum Pink Is In

Yuqi from (G)I-DLE debuts a bubble-gum pink accentuated by soft curls cascading past her shoulders softly. The aesthetic is further softened by a half-updo featuring bubble braids along with wispy bangs framing the sides of her face.

She’s Truly Our Joy

Joy from Red Velvet is seen sporting jet-black tresses complemented by a few streaks of light-ish brown toward the sides of her head. Apart from how simple and statement-making this style is, I love the micro-braids sprouting out of the front of her middle part on either side.

Twice The Drama, Please

Jeongyun from TWICE goes all-out with this style, and we’re here for it. The transition from a mint-like green hue to an ice-blue toward the back is almost captivating—thanks to the spiky space buns and poker-straight bangs dramatising the aesthetic. ONCEs, how do we feel about this one?

I’m pretty sure I’m going to continue returning to this carousel every now and then. How about you?
