Aishwarya Rai was a top actress at the time, and she was known as the “most beautiful woman.” However, she never truly showed off her seductive side before Dhoom 2. Arjun Rampal made his Bollywood debut in 2001, and ever since then, he has been considered a “sex symbol” due to his rugged looks and toned body. Not many are aware or recall that in 2003, Arjun did a film with Aishwarya, called Dil Ka Rishta. While the movie did not fare well at the box office, Arjun and Aish’s pairing was just too hot to handle.
During the film’s release, Aish and Arjun did a super sexy photoshoot that left everyone speechless. After playing quintessentially Indian roles, this was the first time Aishwarya displayed her sensual side, and the wait was definitely worth it! Was Aishwarya Rai Afraid Of Being Termed A Sex Symbol?
In the initial years of her career, Aishwarya Rai played fairly modest roles. Even when she showed skin, she did so in a subdued way. At the time, Aish was working hard to improve her talent to match her looks. She aspired to be remembered as a brilliant actor rather than a sex symbol.
Even though her character, Sunheri, in Dhoom 2, was extremely sexy, Aish wanted the audience to focus on the character’s personality and not her outfits. She stated, “I have so far largely played Indian characters…this appearance in the western mould is definitely new. But the best part is that it is not just about the look. Not just about makeup, hair, and clothes but the character. It is the kind of character that I have not played before.”
Aishwarya Rai was one of those actresses who didn’t have to strive too hard or be “out there” in order to look sexy. She is without a doubt one of the most brilliant actresses we have seen in Bollywood throughout the years. Let’s hope she makes a stellar comeback soon because the world misses seeing her on the big screen!
