Eye Spy: Stay Away From These Beauty Mistakes If You Don’t Want Fine Lines

It’s safe to say that 2020 has given birth to skincare addicts with many of us incorporating new beauty steps into our daily routine. From diligently following an AM to PM routine, to using products that are made for your skin type, to learning about each ingredient that’s labelled on your skincare bottle, yes, there’s no denying that this year has seen a tremendous growth of skin. And while this may come as a blessing, it’s important to note that it’s just not the products that help keep you looking young, but the technique counts as well. This part has unfortunately been left in the dark.

Yes, it’s not only the products but how you apply them that can make a huge difference. If applied the wrong way, and adding in other factors like genetics, gravity, stress, all these combined will make you more prone to premature signs of ageing. And the first place to get affected is the eye area.

If you want to keep away crow’s feet for as long as you can, keep reading to find out what you’re doing wrong which is speeding up the ageing process.

Harshly Scrubbing Your Eyes

Waterproof makeup seems like a blessing until it’s time to take it off. Most of us, in an effort to get rid of it quicker, end up scrubbing the face roughly without even sparing the eye area. As you are aware, the skin around the eyes is very delicate and the tugs and pulls while removing eye makeup can damage this area causing broken capillaries, fine lines and dark circles.

We understand that it can be difficult to remove waterproof eyeliner and mascara, but instead of scrubbing your eyes, use an oil-based cleanser to melt away your eye makeup.

Not Using Eye Cream

A face moisturiser is not good enough. Since the skin around your eyes is much more delicate as compared to the rest of your face, you need to invest in an eye cream if you want to slow down the ageing process. Eye creams are enriched with skin-loving ingredients that keep this delicate area soft and supple while reducing the chances of fine lines and wrinkles.

Using The Wrong Eye Cream

If you have been using an eye cream and haven’t noticed any difference, chances are that you are using the wrong eye cream. There are many eye creams available in the market, each catering to different skin issues.

If you are suffering from fine lines, it is best to use a retinol infused product or products powered by hyaluronic acid and botanical oils. This helps smooth out lines and keep the skin soft and supple.

For dark circles use products enriched with brightening properties like vitamin C, liquorice, kojic acid and niacinamide.

Those dealing with puffiness should use eye creams enriched with caffeine and should also reduce their salt intake.

Not Using Toning Devices

Your eye cream isn’t enough. Delicate skin requires a lot more care and attention as compared to the skin on the rest of your body. You need to start using a facial toning device daily to reduce fine lines and to smoothen out the skin.

Picking The Wrong Concealer

If you have dark circles and fine lines, it is best to use a concealer that features mineral UV filters which not only make the skin look faultless but also protects it from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Rubbing Your Eyes

You need to stop touching your eyes throughout the day. After staring at the computer screen for hours, there’s an involuntary temptation to rub the eyes. But no matter how good it feels, it is terrible for the skin. As stated earlier, the skin around this area is delicate, so rubbing the eyes can break blood vessels which can result in dark circle, fine lines and puffiness.

If you are guilty of doing any of these, you need to stop ASAP.
