5 Simple Ways You Can Help Your Hair During the Rains (Goodbye, Frizz!)

Mehak Sagar  |  May 6, 2016
Its the worst time of the year, ladies, well, for your hair at least! While the pitter-patter of raindrops might seem quite romantic at first, a look at your hair in the mirror, and you pretty much kiss those romantic dreams goodbye.
With frizziness and hair fall and all sorts of other problems going on, it’s the perfect time to take extra care of your hair. I give you 5 simple yet effective ways you can work with immediately – so your hair gets all the help it needs!

1. Lukewarm is the way to go…

Make sure you wash with either cold or lukewarm water. Hot water can add to the frizz. Having your last rinse with hot water dissolves the natural oils on your scalp, causing hair to become dry and frizzy. Bet you didn’t know that!
POPxo Tip: On the other hand, a cool rinse will close up the cuticles and seal in the moisture to each strand.

2. Invest in a good hair mask

Hair masks will coat your strands and offer them extra protection, not to mention cut down on frizz and add shine and smoothness. A good hair mask is a healthy addition, and no hair wardrobe is complete without it.
POPxo Tip: L’Occitane Repairing Mask is just the thing you need to nourish and restore capillary fibre.

3. Think hydration

Up your conditioner amount, oil your hair regularly and make sure your hair is always hydrated and not exposed to rainwater. The more hydrated your hair is, the less it will fall. In normal conditions, we lose 50-60 strands of hair a day; in the monsoons that goes up to 200. So you gotta be on your guard, always!
POPxo Tip: The Ayurvedic Herb Enriched Head Massage Oil Bhring Raj from Forest Essentials is a must-have for hair growth.

4. Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can also help with your monsoon hair fall problem. Silk has fibres that don’t snatch your hair in the way that cotton can, and as your head moves smoothly over the pillow because of the fabric, you wake up to healthier hair.

POPxo Tip: Fab Furnish has some great silk pillow covers and at good prices too.

5. Avoid a hairbrush (Yes, it’s true!)

Use a wide-toothed comb to detangle your tresses, or run your fingers through it for a scrunched look. The less you use the hairbrush, the less frizzy your hair will be.
POPxo Tip: This wide-toothed detangling comb from The Body Shop is perfect for any kind of hair!
