Porn Actors For Sex Ed? New Zealand’s Creative Ad For Kids Wins Praise On Twitter

It was just yesterday that crowds and crowds of people returned to stadiums to watch super rugby in a “corona free” New Zealand. Now, that’s really something, right? From their young, inspiring Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to how efficiently the country has managed to eliminate the novel coronavirus, New Zealand has been quite an example of late.

As if the country hadn’t already given us enough reasons to believe that they are cool AF, the New Zealand government recently launched a rather fascinating advertisement to resonate the message that sex shown in porn movies should not be held as a benchmark for how people experience it in real life. But wait till you find out about the coolest part.

The advertisement features two porn stars, Sue and Derek, who talk about ‘keeping it real online.’ In the ad film, the two porn actors show up at a young kid, Mitch’s house absolutely naked, and ask his mom to call him. “We are here coz your son just looked us online,” they tell the mom, portrayed by comedian Justine Smith.

“We usually perform for adults but your son is just a kid. He might not know how relationships actually work,” Sue says as she elaborates upon how unrealistic and misleading porn happens to be. “We don’t even talk about consent. Get straight to it,” she adds.

Here’s the ad:

The advertisement is part of a series planned by the New Zealand government to educate “young Kiwis” about sex and how what they see online tends to be drastically different from how they experience it in real life.

New Zealand government’s cool and creative approach to sex education has been garnering great praise online as the advertisement goes viral for its innovative subject matter. The ad is specifically being praised for insisting on how porn is far from reality while managing to not portray it in a bad light. Here’s how the Twitterati’s reacting to the advertisement:
