With Alia Bhatt’s stunning debut at the Met Gala 2023 in a jaw-dropping Prabal Gurung ensemble, my expectations were sky-high this year. And once again, she didn’t disappoint. Alia graced the Met Gala 2024 in a custom Sabyasachi saree that perfectly captured the essence of the theme. The couture saree, embellished with silk floss, beads, sequins, and semi-precious stones, was a masterpiece. Paired with a meticulously crafted blouse and adorned with pieces from Sabyasachi High Jewellery’s Bengal Royal Collection, Alia’s look was nothing short of breathtaking. Styled by the talented Anaita Shroff Adajania, Alia’s Met Gala appearance is sure to inspire fashion enthusiasts everywhere.

The heiress knows her fashion well and her fourth Met Gala attendance proved me right. For the Met Gala 2024, she opted for a modern yet elegant interpretation of the theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Her attire, curated by the renowned designer Rahul Mishra, was a fusion of traditional Indian elements with contemporary flair. She wore a bespoke hand-embroidered custom saree, depicting nature’s glorious lifecycle, styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania. One look at her saree and you’ll instantly transported to the ‘Garden of Time’. With meticulously integrated flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies, Isha’s outfit is what dreams are made of.

Natasha Poonawalla In Maison Margiela

The vaccine queen aka Natasha Poonawalla strikes again with her sartorial choice at the Met Gala 2024, standing out like always. Making a head-turning statement, she wore a custom-made dress from Maison Margiela’s Artisanal Collection, curated by none other than celebrated designer John Galliano. Her attire not only exuded confidence and originality but also seamlessly blended contemporary design with some traditional elements like her own set of wedding jewels. Adorned in luxurious fabrics and exquisite details, Natasha’s Met Gala outfit was a true testament to her fashion-forward approach.

Mona Patel In Iris Van Herpen

Among the attendees, I found a hidden gem, Mona Patel. She made her debut at this year’s Met Gala and has been creating more buzz than any other Indian attendee. As an entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mona showcased her distinctive style by wearing a custom Iris Van Herpen couture piece that perfectly blended her passion for couture with her celebration of Indian heritage. The result? A truly unique dress that captured everyone’s attention. Featuring a butterfly-shaped corset and a scalloped train, the ensemble was a masterpiece. However, the highlight of Mona’s look for me had to be the wings on her gloves, which even fluttered. It was an incredible detail that added an extra touch of magic.

No doubt it was a big fashion night for the Indian divas who made sure to take their impeccable fashion game with them.
