This North Meets South Wedding Story Will Make You Believe That Matches Are Made In Heaven

Matches are made in heaven and there are some love stories which actually prove that. We recently stumbled upon the extraordinary love story of Harleen Singh and Auditya Venkatesh, who not only hail from different cultural backgrounds but found love in each other when they least expected it.

Harleen and Auditya have been married for over two years now and recently shared their story with Official Humans Of Bombay. Harleen, who is a travel blogger, met Auditya, a bonafide photographer, at a chartered accountant’s office for the first time in 2008.

Auditya was pursuing his articleship with a chartered accountant where he was asked to interview Harleen, and they just bonded that very instant. He shared, “My CA had asked me to interview an articled assistant to join our firm. The CA thing never worked out, but we did! I’d finish all her work before she even came in so we could spend time together”. Awww!

From sharing lunches to endless conversations and long walks, Harleen and Auditya became really good friends. But while they thought that there might be something more to their relationship, Harleen moved to Gurgaon for higher education and later to Australia and Auditya quit CA to focus on photography.

Both of them got busy in their lives and drifted apart. It was only after Harleen moved back to India that they got in touch and started hanging out again. Talking about what happened after, Auditya said, “It was as if we’d never stopped talking”. Even though they used to speak about being together as a couple, they never went ahead and called it a relationship. Well, the transition from being friends to being in a relationship has never been an easy one, has it?

But, the way they spoke about getting married might be the cutest thing you’ll read today. Talking about the day, Auditya said that it was his 29th birthday and they were out for dinner when Harleen suddenly asked, “Toh shaadi karni hai ki nahi karni hai?” Auditya was taken aback, but he burst out laughing.

Soon they told their parents and Auditya drove for two-and-a-half hours to meet Harleen’s father. “He met me for 2 minutes & said, ‘You guys are sure right? Good. All the best’, & left. And just like that, we were married,” added Auditya.

The most amazing part of their wedding story is that they had two weddings to honour both their cultures. The first one was a North Indian wedding on December 14, 2017, followed by the South Indian wedding the next day. On December 16, 2017, they hosted a sangeet/reception to celebrate their love

The two years of their marriage have been all about love, laughter and travel. They are proud parents to three adorable pet dogs – Whiskey, Glenn and Scotch. Auditya even added how he’s not the “easiest person to live with. I scatter equipment all over, I’m really forgetful & my laundry never reaches the basket. But thankfully she’s so understanding”.

Their love might not be historic or one for the books, but they know the best and worst part of each other and that’s what makes their story just a little bit extraordinary.
