2018 is in the offing. Finally, that time of the year when we prepare ourselves for all the changes we need to make and everything new we want to have. We like to start our list with fashion. For most of us, one thing that remains constant is work. How about we start the New Year with a new office look and a style makeover? You know, like a fresh new start to the New Year. We assembled some office staples relevant to most workplaces and how you can revamp your look without really leaving your comfort zone. Here you go!
2017 - Solid shirts tucked into trousers, striped shirts paired with denims, and loafers for that not-so-formal touch, we tried all sorts of combinations with our office shirts this year. *Eyes rolling*
2018 - Let’s erase the fine line between ‘office shirts’ and fun. Subtle prints, dainty floral, gingham checks, and polka dots would be a great replacement for the same ol’ while sticking to the office dress code.
2017 - Palazzos and culottes were our go-to pants this year. We loved them when they were high-rise, we loved them when they were knotted. We loved them over kurtas and shirts alike.
2018 - How about we add a dash of colour to the classic ‘black trousers?’ Vertical stripes will not only make you look taller and slimmer but also give your wardrobe a new style change. Plus, put your basic white shirt to good use.
Let’s say our accessory of choice is a scarf. Well, here’s how that’s going to change:
2017 - A scarf wrapped around the neck. Period!
2018 - A scarf wrapped around the shirt collar like a tie, or in a bow style knot. On the days when you don’t want to wear jewellery to work, this fun way of carrying your scarf will be all you need. Turn your solids sexy and your basics boss.
2017 - Printed kurtas with solid leggings has been an everyday work wear for quite some time now. That’s when 2017 saw the uprising of palazzos with kurtas. They gave us the flare that we needed.
2018 - How about ditching the mix-and-match trend and coordinating our kurtas and trousers instead? This contemporary style will not only make you fashion forward but also give your leggings a breathing room and your wardrobe some freshness.
2017 - Greys, blacks, whites, navy blues, these colours have been our 9-to-5 favourites because we often think any other colour would just mean picnic. Pastels and neutral shades, yes, that’s what 2017 looked like in fashion years.
2018 - Don’t lock up the colours in your life. Solid or printed, knee-length or maxi, take your dresses out for a spin with a longline jacket and a pair of strappy shoes. Carry a handheld bag for an ultra-chic look.
