Your honeymoon may not be that big a deal if you’re having a love marriage. After all, you’ve both know each other, have spent a lot of time together and maybe even been on vacations as a couple. But, in the case of an arranged marriage, things are a little different. In all probability, you’ve both known each other for a short while and it’ll be the first time you’ll be going out for a trip, all alone. And ladies, this time that you’re getting to spend in each other's company is so essential to strengthen your relationship and make that bond stronger. So make sure you both make the most of it! Here are 10 tips to have an amazing honeymoon after your arranged marriage.
1. Pick the right location
Adventure sports, beaches, mountains, temples or architecture… pick a city or country that has something for the both of you. It’ll be so much nicer to visit a place that offers activities that interest the two of you. Read and research before you make the final decision.
2. Take it easy!
Basically, avoid a packed itinerary. A honeymoon is to relax, rejuvenate and spend a lot of quality time with each other. You don’t want to spend a major part of your vacation travelling from one point to another or wasting too many hours on the road. Keep the itinerary relaxed and flexible.
3. Plan a surprise
It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Just a little something to show that you care and to make him feel loved. You know, to break that little empty space between the two of you. Just have flowers or chocolates delivered to the room. Or leave a heartfelt message next to his pillow. Or maybe a candlelight dinner. These small gestures count a lot.
4. Say goodbye to your phones
Do not let that phone or laptop come in the way of this precious private time that you’ve got together. Carry a camera to click pictures and keep the gadgets away from both of you. Also ladies, it’s so not necessary to give those regular updates to your family members. You’re on your honeymoon and we’re sure they understand. Instead of being on your phone, spend some quality and romantic time with each other.
5. Spend a day in bed
Spend an entire day just cuddling each other, whispering sweet nothings in each other’s ears and admiring the view from your room. Sometimes, doing nothing at all is the best thing ever. To feel comfortable and content just being in each other's arms is a feeling you’ll cherish forever.
6. A fancy dinner date
You may have been on one or maybe 2-3 dinner dates before, but that was during your courtship period when things were a little different and more formal. So now that you’re married, take this vacation to go on that super romantic date. A fancy restaurant, candles, slow music… the works. Slip into that gorgeous black dress and watch your hubby go all weak in the knees.
7. Try something new
Together! Experiencing something new, something you’ve both never done before can be an exhilarating moment. And to experience this together will be even better. For an adrenaline rush, try bungee jumping or a crazy theme park ride. Or how about something as simple as singing along at a karaoke session? It’ll be super fun, we swear!
8. Share a secret
Okay, so it doesn’t really have to be a secret but any one thing that the other one does not know about you. An incident that left a mark on you, a secret desire, some fantasy, an experience - it could be anything.
9. Foodie love!
A vacation is all about food, food and more food! So why not make your foodie dates a lot more fun by ordering for each other. You know it’s just another cute little way to have some fun with each other. Make him try something new or a dish that you love. And try his favorite one too. You never know where this fun activity takes you!
A honeymoon could easily translate into a vacation that screams sex. Well, that’s what the world seems to think. But the truth is, you’ve only just got to know each other. And you may or may not want to go all the way. Plus, why build up that unnecessary pressure. Go with an open mind. Don’t have too many expectations and don’t make sex a big concern when on your honeymoon. Enjoy the natural pace at which your relationship progresses.
