Sneha and Rohan tied the knot in a big fat destination wedding in Nashik on the 4th of December, 2017. The wedding was followed by a romantic Maldives honeymoon where the couple ticked off their dream of staying in an overwater villa. Here’s a peek into their escapade, straight from the bride.
“Rohan and I met in medical school and were dating for almost a decade before we decided to finally tie the knot. We are both travel buffs and love experiencing new places together. But since we are both doctors and lead a very hectic life, we just had a total of 5 days to enjoy our vacation. The week long wedding, though enjoyable, had clearly taken a toll on us, and we were looking for a much needed luxury break to just chill and relax. We considered going to Sri Lanka, Bali and even Seychelles, as they were the closest to India. But since these places had a lot to offer, it definitely wouldn’t have suited our stiff itinerary. We finally decided to go to Maldives – a place that was always topped on our travel to-do list.
Even before we could plan on our honeymoon, we were fairly clear on two things – One, that we wanted to relax as much as we could and two, that we wanted to stay in an overwater villa. The latter, especially, was a dream come true for both of us. We even researched a lot before zeroing down on The Residence at Falhumaafushi Island and were very happy with our decision. The luxury resort was suggested to us by our travel planner, Pearl Adventures, who had organized our entire honeymoon itinerary. As soon as we stepped foot on the resort, we knew we were in paradise. Our luxury hut was surrounded by water, so much so that we had to use speedboats to commute! Right from our infinity pool to the private sun deck that extended to the sea, it was a dream come true for us. Since we didn’t really opt to explore the island, all our four days were spent either enjoying getting a tan on our pool deck or enjoying the golden sunset with some sparkling wine in tow. Of course, we were served delicious and fresh seafood to go with our drinks.
To us, our four days spent in Maldives were nothing short of a fairytale. We were totally rejuvenated, relaxed and had the best time together. The resort invited us to a small beach party, which introduced us to some great local music and lip-smacking food. We would really urge everyone to go to Maldives not only for a fantastic honeymoon vacation but also to experience living amidst nature in its truest form.”
Since Valentine’s day is just around the corner, we think The Residence in Maldives will be a great idea!
