In 1946 the festival’s founder, François Andre, hand-picked the hotel as an event hotspot to host the opening and closing events. Ever since, the hotel’s responsibilities include hosting the stars, with a minimum of nearly 100,000 pounds of food and 18,500 bottles of wine and champagne. There are 8,000 fresh roses placed in the rooms of the guests, which cost approximately $32,000. There is also a 100% increase in staff members. The extravagance also includes 110 pounds of caviar, 2 tons of lobster, 550 pounds of chocolate and 20,000 macaroons for a total of 25,000 meals. Phew! That’s a lot.
