The Cannes Film Festival, held in France, previews feature films of all genres, from all around the world. Being one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, its red carpet also warrants as one of the most fashionable ones. And this year we have two Indian beauties absolutely stunning the world with their stylish outings.
First up we have Kangana Ranaut, who looked all kinds of gorgeous in a black Sabyasachi saree. According to the designer, this saree was inspired by the shining night sky and given the colloquial name 'Akash-Tara'.
The saree is hand-dyed and embellished with hand-cut sequins that are individually sewn using zardosi technique, to create a metallic, yet fluid fabric.
For accessories, she stuck to one statement choker, with a Sabyasachi batua and the ‘teenmaniya’ necklace, crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and basra pearls. But of course what caught our eye IMMEDIATELY was, well, her hair and makeup!
That winged eyeliner could slice through a loaf of bread and that 'big hair' stop anyone in their tracks. She channelled a very desi Audrey Hepburn with a vintage style bouffant and bob hairstyle. While her makeup, think, actresses in the 50s and 60s. A blank canvas-like base, paired with an exaggerated winged tip eyeliner and a nude lip. I think its safe to say we are totally in love with this new avatar of the actress!
Next up, we have Deepika Padukone. After wowing us with her blazing red gown at the MET gala 2018, Deepika is back at working her charming style at the Cannes Film Festival At 2018. She has been at Cannes for all of 12 hours and she’s already standout looks down! First, it was her touchdown look in a mixed solid/print loose shirt and fitted leather pants which makes all our baddy airport clothes fade in comparison. Her makeup was signature Deepika, with voluminous barely-there curls, understated face and a dark nude and pink lip.
She continued the same makeup and hair for her second look but this time paired it with a striped TOME NYC. dress and red Louboutins that can punch a hole in any hater's heart!
For her third look, Deepika is rocking the latest Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini diamond patterned sheer dress, paired with a chunky studded belt and statement novelty earrings. We couldn't help but drool over the sheer panelled collar on Deepika's dress, it gave the long-necked actress an air of scandalous sophistication.
Deepika’s third look was on the lines of Kangana's vintage vibe, a higher than high ponytail with curls. She’s done a statement cat eye to give us all the 80s and 90s flower power vibe.
And finally, the look that took our breath away. Her resident stylist, Shaleena Nathani has done an amazing job picking this gown by Zuhair Murad.
No one could've done justice to the dress quite like Deepika. Well, other than Jennifer Lopez.
The reason the gown looks familiar is that Jlo was spotted in the same one five years back, at the Golden Globes. Here's a side by side comparison:
So, who do you think wore it better?
