Those dreaded period cramps doesn’t necessarily have to take over your life on the first day or two days of your period. Whether you have mildly painful or traumatizing, can’t-go-to-work cramps, there are some easy ways to deal with them. We tell you a few ways to help get rid of period cramps. Some of them may sound a little crazy ,but trust us, they work. These will help transform that time of the month for the rest of your life!

1. Pour Yourself A Glass Of Wine

Drowning your sorrows in a glass of wine isn’t such a bad idea now! Not only can it help take the edge off, it can help thin your blood, which can relieve cramps.

2. Get Massaging

Yes, massaging your tummy can help relax your muscles and lessen the pain. Do it yourself or ask your beau to lend a helping hand. Gentle, circular motions and strokes across your abdomen can relieve the pain and help relax you.


3. Lie In The Fetal Position

There’s a reason why babies love this sleeping position, it’s super comforting and relaxing. Drawing your legs up to your tummy can help relax the stomach muscles and relieve pain. Take it a step further with a heating pad to really feel better quick.


4. Sex It Up!

Another way your better half can help you out is by getting down and dirty between the sheets. Orgasms release those happy hormones that can really relax you and act as a natural painkiller.



5. Indulge In Some Aromatherapy

Lie in a soothing bath with a few drops of essential oils added to it or get a massage with an essential oil. It really will help soothe away those cramps. Lavender essential oil is our fave.


6. Kiss Coffee Goodbye

If you’re prone to severe cramps, then definitely cut down your intake of coffee and caffeine. Limit consumption of tea, aerated drinks, energy drinks and chocolates too, since caffeine is a diuretic and can constrict blood vessels, causing pain. Avoiding caffeine especially during this time of the month can make a big difference.

Exercising is probably the last thing you feel like doing, but it can really, really help. Get moving – go for a jog, an aerobics class or try some yoga stretches. Sweating helps release those happy endorphins which can reduce pain and help you feel great.

8. Keep Busy

Maybe skipping work/ class isn’t the best idea. Simply lying in bed and feeling sorry for yourself is only going to make it worse. Keep busy and distract your attention from the pain. Watch a movie, grab a coffee with your bestie or even work on that assignment. Resist curling up in bed and suffering, and you’ll definitely feel better.
