It’s been almost two and a half decades of Chaiyya Chaiyya and the Indian film industry is yet to find another one like Malaika Arora. She came, instantly made her niche in the industry, and has maintained her position ever since. It takes solid talent and charisma to wield the kind of star power that Malaika has managed to maintain all these years. She’s a sensation and those were our exact thoughts as we watched her walk the ramp for the Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna FDCI fashion show last night. Such grace, such glamour, and a larger-than-life presence. We were stumped!
Uffff Malaika, What Are You!?
Last night, Rohit & Rahul unveiled their Fibonacci collection and it was like a bedazzling journey for our senses. With tonal embroideries, metallic hues, and sheer, luxe details, the designer duo played with fabrics to give them a textured appeal and gave us a collection to remember. And at the culmination of their ethereal aesthetic was Malaika Arora gliding on the ramp in a sheer black gown!
Malaika’s trailing column gown had us in awe for the magnificence of each of the details and gurlll, there were plenty. The sheer black gown featured intricate black embroidery in dainty geometric motifs and we loved the strategic use of fabric and how the opaque panels were used sparingly to retain the glamm quotient. The plunging halter neck and risqué thigh-high slit complemented one another and worked together to capture Malaika’s personal style along with Rohit & Rahul’s design language. The craftsmanship was impeccable and the actress’s look was finished with a minimal silver necklace and a structured wavy hairdo.
