Kylie Jenner’s Vintage Glamm Claims Queen Status At The Thierry Mugler: Couturissime

Kylie Jenner’s Vintage Glamm Claims Queen Status At The Thierry Mugler: Couturissime

Words can’t express how blown away we are by Kylie Jenner’s appearance at the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime in Brooklyn Museum. Yes, we know Kylie Jenner is a billionaire and her wardrobe is highly extensive. But sourcing not one but two vintage Mugler outfits that were supposed to be on display at the exhibition itself is beyond show-stopping. The Kylie Cosmetics founder even posted the vacant slot in the museum tour which reads ‘temporarily off view’ because the design that was to be showcased there is actually living its best life on Jenner herself. But the dramatic vintage Mugler outfits weren’t all that impressed us, Kylie, being the beauty mogul that she is, wore her hair half-up in pinwheel curls and later exchanged it for a literal jewel crown. On the makeup front, she kept her visage sculpted and glowing for ease of transition between her outfit changes. Not all of us can hope to get access to vintage Thierry Mugler designs, but if it’s Kylie’s beauty look you’re after, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a lowdown on her hair and makeup look.

Kylie Herself Looked Like Art At The Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, Last Night

The first look that Kylie emerged in, was a couture design from Thierry Mugler’s 1997 Spring couture collection. The vintage couture collection was inspired by insects and you can see the resemblance in the outfit Kylie’s wearing. It is a webbed bodysuit and it also had a white satin cape (which is not in the picture) that overall resembles a caterpillar’s metamorphosis. Naturally aiming to complement the artistic design, Kylie’s hairstyle was fashioned to look nature inspired and she chose the classic beehive hairstyle to get the job done. To recreate her hairdo, first, wash your hair with a volume-boosting shampoo and conditioner. Next, divide your hair into top and bottom sections. Divide the top section into three parts: a triangular front section for your bangs, and a centre parting creating two halves with the remainder of the top section of hair. Neatly roll those two halves inwards into pinwheel curls and secure them with bobby pins. They should look like horns or antennas sitting atop your crown area. Apply hair gel to the triangular front section and mould it into a large curl. Pin the end of the curl loosely above one ear. Tong the rest of your hair. Spritz the hairstyle with hairspray. Break the tonged curls with a paddle brush to get gorgeous waves.

Kylie’s Makeup In The 2nd Vintage Outfit From Mugler’s Fall 1995 Collection

Kylie did an outfit change to a black gown from Thierry Mugler’s Fall 1995 couture collection, and this time she wore an actual crown. The diamond-studded headpiece is from Mugler’s 1999 couture show and it frames Kylie’s forehead and resembles sunbeams bursting from her visage. With a diamond-studded face frame like that, her makeup needed to be nothing short of royalty. The beauty mogul played it smart and kept her makeup sculpted and fresh so that it transitioned seamlessly from her first outfit to this stunning second one. Here’s the decode of her makeup look.

Step 1: The Skin Story

Give skincare priority by indulging in a multi-step routine. Double cleanse with a face wash and exfoliator and then apply a toner followed by a serum to target your skin concerns. Massage a moisturiser on your face and neck to plump up your skin. Wait for your skincare to be completely absorbed by your skin and only then apply a makeup primer. Blend a skincare-infused full-coverage foundation on your face and neck. Use a lightweight concealer on areas that need more coverage. Blend a shimmery bronzer on your cheekbones, hairline, and jawline; terracotta cream blush on your cheeks; and a reflective highlighter on the high points of your visage. Set your base with a setting spray.

Step 2: Windows To The Soul

Before doing your eye makeup, get your brows groomed so that they frame your eyes beautifully. Pencil them in to fill in any gaps and outline your brow shape. Now, use the spoolie to blend the pigment. Finish the brow grooming with a swipe of brow gel. For the eyes, blend a chocolate brown eyeshadow in and above the crease of your lids. Next, blend ashy brown eyeshadow on the outer halves of your lids. Use a neutral matte shade on the inner halves. Tightline your eyes with kajal, stick on individual falsies and wear mascara.

Step 3: Read My Lips

Exfoliate and moisturise your lips with a scrub and balm. Dab off the excess lip balm after a few minutes. Outline your lips with a dark brown lip pencil. Use a lip brush to soften the lines and blend the pigment inwards. Swipe on a pretty skincare-infused lipstick in a dusty rose shade.

Kylie Jenner is a true fashion and beauty icon and both her looks are worth recreating.
