One of the best feelings in the world is when a daily soap goes off the air at the right time without stretching its plot unnecessarily. This way, the show does not go off the track and we remember it as a good one. There are very few shows in the Indian entertainment industry that has followed this format. That is why we were pretty excited when their reboot and sequels were announced. While some of these shows returned for a third season, some came back on our screen after decades. We expected them to recreate the OG magic and chemistry, but sadly, that’s not the case with every show.
Here are three shows that had a promising start, but now have turned into massive disappointment:
Bade Achhe Lagte Hai 2
The second season of this series released after a decade and we had so many expectations from it. While Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar are perfect in the lead roles, it’s the execution that’s extremely disappointing. The makers have to realise that the daily soap has to be fast-paced if they want the viewers to be hooked on it. But instead, almost every episode has been pretty much the same for a month now.
Honestly, we’re bored of the wedding sequence of the couple that’s going on for ages now and do not wish to get old watching it. We hope that Bade Ache Lagte Hai 2 gets over with its snail-paced storyline and give us something interesting.
Kuch Rang Ke Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi 3
The first two seasons of this show were pretty impressive but the third season is turning out to be quite disappointing. The audience loves Shaheer Sheikh-Erica Fernandes chemistry. But, the new season revolves around their parenthood and their problems in marriage. Also, there’s a new character, Sanjana, who’s creating problems between the couple and has become the main focus of the show. Well, all this is not sitting right with the fans and they want to see the lead roles back in their OG elements.
Interestingly, fans are not the only ones who are disappointed with the new plot. Turns out, Erica is planning to quit the show because she’s unhappy with the storyline as well. TBH, the daily soap cannot afford to lose the actress ATM as she’s the one saving the third season along with Shaheer.
Pavitra Rishta 2.0
We had high hopes from this one, we really did. But, it’s a bummer to say that fans are not so happy with the reboot. Ankita Lokhande and Shaheer Sheikh are absolutely perfect in the lead roles and it’s a treat to watch them play Archana and Manav. But, it is the writing that really, really sucks. It has elements that remind us of yesteryear instead of the ongoing era. The dialogues are quite a cliche and it’s sad that these amazing actors are actually speaking those dialogues. It’s the acting and the chemistry that is working in the show’s favour, but apart from that, it turned out to be a major disappointment.
While we are glad that these shows returned on our screen and made us nostalgic, we wish the makers had done complete justice to OG seasons of these daily soaps. Well, we hope that they listen to us ‘coz they still got some time to redeem!
