This Instagrammer Used Claw Clips To Add Major Volume To Her Thin Hair

Do you let your hair air-dry normally? Because this Instagrammer cannot relate — she has something else in mind for her fine, thin hair. A hack that I’ve never seen anyone execute before. But it is as bizarre as it is effective. All you need is damp-ish hair and a claw clip, and you’re good to go. Intrigued? So was I. Here’s what you need to know about this volume-inducing hack for thin hair, and how to do it yourself.

Claw Clips Have Earned A New Status. Here’s Why!

This Instagrammer leaves us with a no-effort hack that adds volume to the hair — no catch involved. Just one tool — a clip. A claw clip. You’ve seen many twist their hair into buns with them with pretty face-framing tendrils, Olivia Rodrigo included. But there’s so much more they can do than hold the mane. If your hair is fine or thin, and has no bounce or lift whatsoever, you’re going to want to take note of this.

Sophie appears with air-dried hair at the start of the video — normal enough. But she dismisses this, and moves on to the next part of her reel — which is where the magic happens. She fastens a standard claw clip onto her scalp — across her parting — while her hair is air-drying before unclipping it. The result is lifted, bouncy roots that play into the illusion of volume and definition instantly.

You can put this hack to the rest after your shower. Secure the clip in place, and keep it on until your hair has completely dried. You can use two clips because you’ll need to cover the back as well. This is one of the quickest, most economical ways to add volume to the hair naturally.
