Much like Madhubala and her perfectly winged eyeliner, a great beauty look can make a character come alive and stay in your memory for years to come. With so many movies coming out year by year, it’s not easy to remember every character. But some of these beauty looks are so distinct or mesmerizing that they really make an impact. If we talk about the year that went by, it was less about heavy makeup and more about simplicity and the classics. To be more specific, a simple braid and bindi stole more hearts than false eyelashes and flashy lipsticks. It has been a year of soft curls and kohl. Here are a few beauty looks from 2018 that we fell in love with and will remember well into the new year.
1. Sara Ali Khan in Kedarnath
A loose side braid, fine eyeliner, a bright bindi and subtle pink lipstick can compliment your Indianwear in the best way possible. Sara Ali Khan‘s simple yet memorable look from her debut film Kedarnath is proof of that.
2. Sonam Kapoor in Veere Di Wedding
Oh yes, once again, India’s favourite fashionista made a beauty statement when she blended her purple eyeshadow with golden eyeliner in ‘Tareefaan‘ from Veere Di Wedding. We’re saving the look for our NYE party!
3. Deepika Padukone in Padmaavat
Deepika Padukone went full Rajasthani in Padmaavat for all the good reasons. Not only did her beauty look bring back Freida Kahlo’s unibrow look, it also opened up a discussion about accepting beauty in all forms. She donned her bindi right at the centre of the forehead, just like a traditional Rajasthani woman would and that kohl on her waterline is just another addition to the royal look that she owned like a true rani.
4. Aishwarya Rai in Fanney Khan
I never thought I would see Aish colour her hair but thanks to Fanney Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen in a completely new avatar and she owned her red hair much like she owns everything else that crosses her way.
5. Alia Bhatt in Raazi
Soft curls, pretty pink lipstick, rosy cheeks and kohl on the waterline, Alia Bhatt’s Kashmiri girl look in Raazi was too real to not love. It had such a dainty feel to it.
6. Tripti Dimri in Laila Majnu
Much like Alia’s look in Raazi, Tripti Dimri’s Laila Majnu look was also of a Kashmiri girl. She also added a fine sweep of eyeliner and nude eyeshadow to round up her beauty look.
7. Anushka Sharma in Sui Dhaaga
Anushka Sharma’s saree look from Sui Dhaaga may have become the meme-of-the-year but her fashion show finale look is what captured our hearts. Her long curls, bindi and a peach lip shade stole the show.
