The thought of Indian Matchmaking’s Season 2 has been equal parts exciting and concerning for us. Exciting because we cannot wait for problematic desis to expose the Indian arranged marriage market and its hypocrisy all over again. And concerning because who will challenge Sima Taparia like Aparna Shewakramani did last season? ‘She’s Unlikeable’ & She Is Returning To Indian Matchmaking
The last time we saw her on Indian Matchmaking, Sima Taparia openly called her uncompromising, unadjusting and unlikeable. However, she was the only person on Netflix’s reality show who did not give two hoots about putting up an appearance. She called a spade a spade and boring men that Sima aunty found for her exactly that. We are, of course, talking about Aparna Shewakramani who is today a celeb in her own right and an icon for every desi woman who was ever shamed/mocked/looked down at in a rishta meeting.
Sima aunty had a lot to say about Aparna in Indian Matchmaking Season 1 and Aparna did not take any of that. In multiple press interactions post the show’s release, she called out Sima Taparia for her regressive thinking and problematic remarks that she had to make about women. Earlier this year, she also launched a book on the topic titled, She’s Unlikeable: And Other Lies That Bring Women Down. The book shed light on how Aparna was vilified on Netflix’s reality show which is returning with a season 2 in August this year. The exciting update is that Aparna will be returning to the show this season and one can only imagine how that is gonna result in some intense fireworks.
All this while, Aparna has been open in her critique of Sima aunty and this is gonna result in some tension between the two. Well, we look forward to every bit of this drama.

Apart from the exciting update on Aparna’s appearance in season 2, Netflix has revealed that a lot of familiar faces will make a return. The best part? A little birdie tells us that we will also witness some proposals on the show. How exciting is that?!
