Best Of Bollywood: Underrated Movies Of 2018 That You Must Watch Before The Year Ends

2018 was the year of Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana. A record number of movies entered the Rs 100-crore club and it was the new actors who won hearts with their performances.

If Bollywood gave us Race 3, we also watched gems like Sanju, Padmaavat, Gold, Stree and Raazi. The year gave us these handful of refreshingly original and brilliant movies. Although some didn’t do as much business, they were the real winner as far as storyline, screenplay, direction and performance are concerned.

We have the list of movies you need to watch before the year ends, so invite your friends home and start the marathon.

3. Badhaai Ho

What happens when you mix a good script, a stellar cast, and mind-blowing performance? Well, you get Badhaai Ho! With humour and emotions at just the right points, Badhaai Ho is a reflection of the hypocrisy of the society that associates sex only with the youth and shames the middle-aged for their healthy relationships. Ayushmann Khurrana gives another splendid performance, but his parents in the movie (played by Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao), who are expecting another child, give power-packed performances.

4. Love Per Square Foot

Netflix’s first mainstream digital-only film is a thoughtful ode to love and the city of Mumbai. The film perfectly captures a couple’s dreams of owning a house in the city and making it big in life. It is splendid how beautifully the essence of the city and the chemistry of a couple has been brought alive in the film. Watch it for Vicky Kaushal and you’ll love him more after.

5. October

Perhaps the best performance of Varun Dhawan so far, October is a tale of love and loss. The movie can be slow at times, but that is exactly how you can capture the true essence of a movie that is not just a love story, but a story of internal battles.

6. Karwaan

As the name suggests, Karwaan is about a road flick that three visibly different people had to take due to a cruel twist of fate. The film is about life, death, some hard realisations, and bittersweet experiences of life. The effectiveness of the movie lies in how perfectly it shows the generation gap between young people who are separated by only a decade.
