Before Making It in Bollywood, Ayushmann Khurrana Also Appeared On These TV Shows

Ayushmann Khurrana has proven to be an actor par excellence with his groundbreaking performances time and again. From Vicky Donor to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan, he has emerged as one of the finest talents that this country has seen in a long time. 

So it comes as no surprise that Ayushmann has made it to the list of the world’s 100 Most Influential People Of 2020 by the Time Magazine. The actor took to Instagram to share how happy and honoured he was to be a part of it. He shares the title along with four other Indians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sundar Pichai, Ravindra Gupta and Bilkis, the dadi from Shaheen Bagh. He wrote on Instagram, “TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world is out, I’m honored to be a part of this group: time.com/time100 @TIME #TIME100.” And of course, he was flooded with lots of love and wishes from his fans and friends from the industry.

While Ayushmann made his Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor opposite Yami Gautam, he wasn’t an unknown face in the industry. He always wanted to be an actor and established himself as a host and anchor on MTV in 2004. So, in his honour today, we decided to make a list of a few lesser-known TV appearances that Ayushmann has made over the years.

MTV Roadies, Season 2

Ayushmann established himself as a TV anchor for MTV after winning the title of Roadies in 2004. Here is the video of his first audition. 

Kayamath

Kayamath is an Indian soap that aired on STAR Plus. The show started airing on 19 February 2007 replacing a then-popular TV show Kahiin To Hoga and ended on 12 March 2009. Ayushmann played a character called Saket Shergill in that show. Apart from him, the show also starred actors like Shabbir Ahluwalia, Panchi Bora, Jay Bhanushali, and Sanjeeda Sheikh in lead roles. Here is the title song of this famous soap opera.

Ek Thi Rajkumari

This light-hearted drama that aired on Zee Next starred Ayushmann as Prem, one of the leads. However, Khurrana quit 6 months later, after since he signed a contract with MTV to do a show called Wassup Youngistaan. 

MTV shows

Ayushmann signed a contract with MTV after winning Roadies. However, because of his popularity and skills, he signed not one but four ongoing TV shows on MTV as a host. These included MTV Wassup and The Voice Of Youngistaan as a video jockey, MTV Fully Faltoo MovieCheque De India where he played the character of Fakir Khan in a spoof of Chak De! India, MTV Fully Faltoo Movie–Jadoo Ekbar as Prince Jalegi which was the spoof of Jodhaa Akbar. Apart from these shows, he also cohosted MTV Roadies for two years with Baani J.

Multiple TV reality shows

Ayushmann has also hosted several reality TV shows like India’s Got Talent (Season 1), Rock on with MTV (Season 1), Stripped India’s Got Talent (Season 2), Rock on with MTV (Season 2), 2011 MTV Grind, and Just Dance.

Be it a show or a spoof movie, Ayushmann has always shone in front of the camera. Isn’t he truly a rockstar? Congratulations, Ayushmann! We love you.
