Indian weddings are very stressful, especially for the bride. Putting together a big fat Indian wedding is not an easy task. Shaadis are bound to have some last-minute disasters and drama, thanks to all the guests, relatives and extended family members involved. There’s no way you can avoid trouble at an Indian wedding no matter what you do and that’s probably why it doesn’t take too long for the bride to turn into a full-blown bridezilla. 

Now add to that a person who takes the liberty to annoy the bride and she will breathe fire! Amid the stress attack and fights, the bride doesn’t need all the unsolicited advice and suggestions. We know you mean well but the ‘innocent’ things you say might just add on to her stress. So, while you’re chatting up with her, here are some things you should just never say to the bride.

1. Oh, Don’t Worry!

OMG! Do not, and I mean do not say anything of that sort. She has to put together an event that society has always told her will be ‘the happiest day of her life’. She’s also got a crazy lot of relatives to deal with and all this while she’s on a DIET!

2. Are You Trying To Lose Weight?

Okay, this one is just outright disrespectful. She’s already stressed about fitting into her bridal outfit, she does not need to be body-shamed. Also, please don’t ask her if she’s planning to grow her hair longer for the wedding.

3. Life Is About To Change

No, shit Sherlock! As if she doesn’t know it. The bride is already freaking out about it, you don’t have to point it out. 

4. Won’t You Change Your Surname?

First of all, this is the last thing on her mind right now. Secondly, this is just inappropriate and it’s none of your business.

5. Have You Learnt How To Cook?

Can we do away with the gender roles already? It’s the 21st century. She’s marrying a man and not adopting a kid who needs to be looked after.

6. Am I Invited?

You’ll find out if you’re invited, please don’t make a big deal out of it! 

7. Are You Really Sure About Him?

If you say that, you’re 100% uninvited. Don’t question the bride’s choice of groom. She’s marrying him, so obviously, she’s sure about him. 

8. Oh, I Need To Go To The Parlour

Okay, Richa…we get it. You want to look pretty but it’s not your wedding. Let the bride get ready, she does not have the time to put up with your demands RN!

9. Please Don’t Be A Bridezilla

Well…we’ve just got one thing to say to you. RUN!!!!

With wedding season upon us, it’s time we make the brides feel comfortable. So if you know a bride-to-be, please be mindful of what you say to them!
