Team POPxo  Shares The Sweetest Thing Their First Love Did For Them

Gave Me Perfumes, Along With Free Bashing From Mum

Ah, I’ll never forget my *pehla pyaar*. I think I was in eighth or ninth standard when he gifted me two Archie perfumes. He hid it in my pink schoolbag and I discovered them when I got home…and so did my mum. They were heart-shaped so fooling my mum wasn’t an option. She scolded me bhot thoda sa would be the understatement of the year.

Coming back to the gesture, I think it was pretty cute and I’ll never forget that.

What A ‘Novel’ Gesture

I won’t call him ‘mera pehla pehla pyaar’ but my first boyfriend did do something extremely sweet (and surprising) for me. Now, I say ‘surprising’ because we were in ninth grade then. He started writing a novel on me to give it to me as a birthday present. And, boy, was he good with words! But I never got to read it because we stopped hanging out. I don’t wonder about the contents of the novel anymore, but I’ll always remember the gesture.

Wait For The Twi(s)x(t)!

My pehla pyaar was my first boyfriend who I started dating in the 9th grade. We had both gone for a camping trip from our respective schools and had one night together where his friend was trying to talk to me but my eyes only gleamed for him. Next day he saw me again and thought I was in love with his best friend and released he had feelings for me too. Anyway, long story short, we cleared out the misunderstanding a few months later and started dating. Our first date was in Barista where I entered the cafe and he had written ‘I Love You’ with Twix chocolates on a plate. He had picked out a special, romantic corner for us and I couldn’t get more than two words out because I was blushing so much. The date was cut short because my mother found out and stormed into the cafe, held my hand and dragged me out. But even now whenever I eat Twix I remember him and his dreamy eyes. There’s a special place that first loves hold in our hearts, don’t they!?

Walker And A Keeper!

Mera pehla pyaar was mera pehla boyfriend who proposed to me in class 12. We started dating but when college started we couldn’t get admission in the same colleges. His college was in Noida and mine was in South Delhi. The distance between our colleges was 25km (one way). But mera pehla pyaar, the darling he was, he used to drop me to college every morning and also pick me up when my classes got over. It lasted for a year and then we both went separate ways. But he was sweet!

More Like The Forever Wala Pyaar

My pehla pyaar is actually my now husband but of course, I had my fair share of boyfriends who did pretty sweet stuff for me that I still remember! This school boyfriend would actually give me his seat on the bus every day on our journey back home. Not just that, he would stand next to me and use his body to shield me from the harsh sun rays so I could sleep in peace for the one-hour that it took to get home. Sweet na?!

Why Fall In Love With A Person When You Can Fall In Love With Shoes?!

My first love was not a person, but a pair of converse shoes. I had one in every colour, but the one that I wanted the most was a golden pair. My boyfriend knew how big I was a fan of them and he intended to gift them to me on Valentine’s Day (I don’t how he did it 8 years ago when online shopping wasn’t a thing yet). However, we had a terrible fight before V-Day. We were on the verge of breaking up and I was so upset with him that I wanted to call things off face-to-face. Just before I could end things with him, he brought out the shoes. At first, I didn’t accept his gift, but after seeing his puppy eyes, his apology note and golden converse shoes, I couldn’t help but choose love first. The shoes were secondary and have always stayed that way ever since.
