From Nepotism To Money Laundering, Actor Sushant Singh’s Death Case Gets Murkier

It’s been over 45 days since we lost actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Ever since then, speculations about what pushed the actor to take his own life haven’t stopped. The actor’s death reignited the nepotism debate in Bollywood. Recently, the investigation into the death case took a new turn when Sushant’s father, Krishna Kumar Singh, filed an FIR against the actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Earlier this week, KK Singh accused the actress and five others of harassing and driving his son to suicide. And now, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a money laundering case over the “suspicious transactions” worth Rs 15 crore from the actor’s account as alleged in the FIR.

Rhea Chakraborty Breaks Her Silence

A few hours after the ED filed the case, Rhea finally broke her silence and issued a video statement, saying that she had full faith in the judiciary. In the video that was released by her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, she said, “I have immense faith in God and the judiciary. I believe that I will get justice. Even though a lot of horrible things are being said about me on the electronic media, I refrain from commenting on the advice of my lawyers as the matter is sub-judice. Satyamev Jayate, the truth shall prevail.”

Meanwhile, the actress has also filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of investigations from Bihar to Mumbai. She has also sought a stay on the probe by the Bihar Police till the disposal of her plea in the top court. In her petition, she said, “In peculiar facts and circumstances of the present case, the petitioner has been falsely implicated in the present case filed by at the instance of Krishna Singh”.

Maharashtra vs Bihar: The Cops’ Turf War

The plea filed by Rhea has turned into a turf war between the Bihar and Maharashtra police, stating that their sides should be heard before the Supreme Court passes any orders. The apex court is likely to hear the plea on August 5. Both the teams are now parallelly investigating the matter.

The Mumbai police have been probing the case since Sushant’s suicide and have questioned nearly 40 people till now. And if reports are to be believed, they may be arriving at a conclusion soon.

Meanwhile, the four-member team of Bihar Police is in Mumbai to investigate the case and has recorded statements of several people including Sushant’s ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. Ankita, during the investigation, has claimed that in her last chat with Sushant, the late actor expressed that he wanted to end his relationship with Rhea as she was harassing him.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, on the other hand, revealed in a tweet that Mumbai police has not been cooperating with the Bihar police. The tweet claims that the Mumbai team is trying to obstruct the investigation.

The police officials from Bihar, however, said that the team will continue to do its work, and they are just waiting for the Supreme Court’s order. On the other hand, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray condemned those criticising the Mumbai police, urging them to have faith as the team is not inefficient.

Here’s How Netizens Are Reacting To It
