This Show Is All Set To Fill The Sex & The City-Sized Hole In Our Hearts & We Can’t Wait!

How long has it been since you heard the words “are you a Carrie or a Samantha?” Sex And The City, which aired in the late 90s and early 2000s, was revolutionary for normalising and even celebrating female sexuality on television. If you love and miss the show, then you’re in for a sweet surprise.

The brainchild behind shows like Sex And The City (SATC) and Younger, Darren Star, is now bringing to us a new series called Emily In Paris. Of course, the storyline and characters aren’t going to be similar to SATC, but it will focus on strong female characters, female friendships and fashion. The lead role of Emily will be played by Lily Collins, an American marketing executive who’s on a mission to revamp her company’s office in Paris.

The show will deal with themes of culture shock, as Emily is a foreigner in France, navigating new friendships, professional relationships as well as romances. Sounds fun, right?

The 10-episode series is slated for an autumn release on Netflix, although the streaming platform is yet to reveal an official release date, or even a trailer. However, Lily Collins has been sharing little snippets from her shoots in Paris, and we must say that we’re loving the outfits! The outstanding fashion on the show isn’t surprising–because the costume department is being helmed by Patricia Fields, who headed costume design for Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada.

Thankfully, the show wrapped up shooting before the coronavirus pandemic hit, so no delays are expected in its release. Besides Lily Collins, the show will also star Broadway star Ashley Parker, Grey’s Anatomy’s Kate Walsh, and several other completely fresh actors.

The show truly sounds like it will fill the SATC-sized void in our hearts, and we can’t wait for the trailer to release to get a better idea of the plot, cast and of course, outfits! And don’t worry, we’ll share all the deets as soon as it drops.

In the meantime, you’ll find us eagerly refreshing our Netflix homepage every few minutes.
