#BeautyDiaries: I Painted My Lips Blue And This Is How It Turned Out

Why fit in when you’re born to stand out, right? Well, that’s been my motto since Junior College. Ask any of my friends about my style and they’ll tell you that it’s been all over the place. Whether it’s playing around with a new hairstyle, outfit or make-up, I’m game for experimenting! To me, style is personal, and can help build a sense of identity.

A couple of months ago, I was at attending a beauty event. I remember this one make-up artist who wanted to paint my lips not red or pink, but blue! At first, I turned down his request. I was scared that it’ll make me look funny. However, his persistence and assurance made me reconsider my decision. I said, “let’s do this!”

I Tried Blue Lipstick And Here’s What Happened

Worst comes to worst, if it looks shabby, I’ll remove it off. As soon as he applied this deep blue lipstick, my pout instantly became the centre of attention. All eyes were on me and I was frankly quite nervous and shy to ask about their thoughts. I remember the make-up artist grinning at me while he turned the mirror to my face. There I was, baffled by my appearance.

To be honest, it didn’t just look good, it looked fantastic! I don’t know whether it was the shade that complimented my complexion or the lippie shade by itself, but it looked brilliant.

I mean, different is good sometimes. Even though it’s not a common sight to wear a unique coloured lipstick, I feel it’s worth a shot. Metallics and neon lipsticks are equally daunting, but if worn with the right attitude, you can pull off any trend like a boss!

When I Wore My Blue Lipstick To Office…

A week after the event, I put this lipstick shade to the test. I wore it to the office. (Yes, I did get stared at a lot.) As I walked in, I received a bunch of mixed reactions. Some disapproved of it and a very few of them appreciated it. However, after a while, everyone settled down and got back to work.

During the course of the day, I realised that it’s just a shade of lipstick. Its purpose and design are to make a woman feel prettier and confident in her own skin.

Would You Ever Try This?

It’s not for the faint-hearted for sure, but it’s definitely for a woman who wants to break stereotypes and find her personal style. The lipstick I’ve used is M.A.C. It has a creamy liquid texture and gives a wonderful matte finish with just one swipe.

For those women who need a break from tints of red and pink, you’re always welcome to try shades of blue, green and mauve. Which colour would you paint your pout? I’d love to know!
